Haven't you deleted this yet? What is it exactly that you don't understand? Footballers are people too. They are entitled to have an opinion. & when they force the government to feed the nations children you should be thanking them. I want a politics for the many not the few
We are all proud of our England team, who have had the support of the whole country over recent weeks, but please focus of football, not politics. If you win for England, you win for everyone! 🏴🇬🇧

Shame on every single one of you people spouting your hatred. Racism has no place in our society. It never has and it never will.
The idea that anyone could criticise a young man who is essentially the same age as our y13s is appalling. A straight ‘A’ student, super talented and brave enough to step up. His team have shown the best of the country in the last month. We need to follow their example.

Most kids in my class were disappointed at the football result last night although a few really didn't care. However, every single one of them was angry and upset at the shameful treatment of certain players. That gives me real hope for the future.

Superbly written, @MatthewdAncona.
We have a hooligan governing class - and a national football team composed of philanthropic gentlemen. My @tortoise column #Euro2020Final #GarethSouthgate

I’m tired of it. I am a person who seeks the light. I search for joy and do all I can to make the world a better place. And yet, there are many who seek to destroy unity and friendship and actively spread hatred. Why? This is what I ask myself every day. Why do people do this?

It’s beyond my comprehension that anyone on this earth should have to accept such vitriol and more disturbing that those guilty of it are so freely able to do so. It’s just appalling.

Actions speak louder than words. A tweet of this nature, @pritipatel, is meaningless when there is no evidence that the government is actually doing a darn thing about addressing the issue. It reeks of tokenism. Time to act.
You don’t get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as ‘Gesture Politics’ & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing we’re campaigning against, happens.

Disgusted beyond words and yet, surprised I am not by the racist attacks subjected upon three gentleman who give so much to others. It represents an ugliness that oozes into the fabric of our society. Just saying it’s abhorrent is not enough. We, all of us, must do more.

This lad is 19 and carried the hope of a nation on his shoulders. When I was 19 I worked in Boots and giggled when I had to restock the Anusol. What an impressive young man ♥️#Saka

I feel more depressed about our reaction to the football than the football itself. The racism. The violence. The systems that underpin both. The people who build those systems offering superficial condemnation. The individual ugliness that lies so close to the surface.
