Am I sorry to see Boris Johnson go? Not a jot. His arrogance and ego have been his priority while the country spirals into chaos. Good riddance.

I'm devastated to announce that my Father died this afternoon. I had a sudden urge this morning to go to the hospital and see him, and thankfully I was able to. He died a short time later. My Dad, my best pal, my rock. Francis's Papa. Love you forever Dad 💚💔
I've got some exciting news: I'm delighted to announce that I've fallen in love ❤️ It's an amazing feeling and I'm honestly the happiest and most content I've been in a long time. I just hope Mick Lynch feels the same way about me.
I think it's a sign of national insanity when a country goes bananas to celebrate a woman who could have her pick of actual palaces to live in while her royal subjects are eating out of foodbanks and struggling to keep the lights and heating on

The Supreme Court ruling confirms that the United Kingdom is not a voluntary union. Just imagine if a European court had ruled that the UK did not have the right to hold a referendum to leave the EU. This isn't exactly news to us in Scotland, we just have it legally confirmed now
Let me just say this again: Senior Conservative government ministers have been found to have breached the ministerial code. Nicola Sturgeon has been cleared.
@ScotTories
must explain why they wanted her to resign before a judgement had been made but stay silent on their own party
Police Scotland have confirmed there were no arrests today after a large group of Rangers fans gathered outside Ibrox stadium, breaching Covid-19 regulations.
A spokesman for the force said: "We are the people."
Francis is fast asleep in his crib and suddenly everything is quiet. I'd love for you all to join me in raising a glass to my wonderful Dad. I am going to miss him so much. I can't even think about it. I'm blessed & privileged to have had these final months with him. To Dad 🥂❤
My Dad died this year. Baby Francis's Dad died this year. It's going to be just me and him on Christmas Day and I am going to do all I can to make it a special day for the both of us. His Dad and Papa would have wanted a wonderful first Christmas for him. It's all about love ❤
My wee Francis was born by c-section after a 3-day induction process which was abandoned after I'd only managed to dilate to 4cm 🙈 It seems I may have an issue with my pelvis being a bit on the small side and possibly not up to natural delivery at all. Thank God for the NHS ❤
I've said this before but it is utterly exhausting to have to keep highlighting the anti-Irish, anti-Catholic hate on display on Scotland's streets when so many politicians try to dismiss it as a football thing. Orange walks aren't a football thing. This problem is embedded.
Just a wee note to all those celebrating how anti-racist Glasgow/Scotland is after the Pollokshields protest: If you're not calling out the anti-Irish racism and anti-Catholic bigotry being screamed by thousands on Glasgow's streets today, you're not doing anti-racism right 👍
My son has only seen his dad, a key worker, twice since he was born. He hasn't met his siblings yet. He hasn't met his other papa & nana yet. My brothers haven't been able to see their ill father. We missed the funeral of a close relative during lockdown. Cummings is a disgrace.
A week ago today racist Jayda Fransen stood in this very constituency in Glasgow and voters emphatically sent her packing. Today, the Home Office tried to detain a couple of locals for deportation and the good people of Glasgow sent the Home Office packing. A pretty good week ✊
The SNP have won:
- 2015 General election in Scotland
- 2016 Scottish Parliament election
- 2017 General election in Scotland
- 2019 General election in Scotland
So please, Conservatives, try telling us again that
@NicolaSturgeon
doesn't have a mandate to request
#indyref2
I'm delighted to let you all know that I am pregnant and very much looking forward to welcoming a wee baby to the world in 2020. Here's my Dad finding out that his first grandchild is on the way 💚😍
Having a wee dram of Isle of Jura, Dad's favourite malt. I love you forever Dad. My best pal. The most gentle, understanding person I've ever known with a sharp sense of humour that'd leave a room buckled. You'll always be with me, Francis and my brothers. Now you're with Mum ❤
I always try to read and acknowledge tweets to me but there are so many that even Twitter can't keep up. I'm overwhelmed and want to say thank you to you all for taking Dad into your hearts. The world is a poorer place without him 💔
Francis will be baptised tomorrow and he will have a Catholic Godfather and a Protestant Godmother (aka a Christian Witness). My son will be brought up to respect all faiths and he will know he is loved within the Church and outwith it. This is the Scotland I believe in ❤
My Dad's not a big SNP fan, he still remembers the anti-Catholic days & is understandably distrustful, but we're watching the daily ScotGov briefing & he turns to me and says, with a very proud nod: "I used to not like her,
@NicolaSturgeon
, but she knows what she's doing."
Jings!
Nicola Sturgeon's arrest doesn't make a difference to my support for Scottish independence because my belief in indy as being the best option for people in Scotland has nothing to do with the SNP or individual politicians and it never has. I don't think unionists understand that.
Dad has sadly become very ill and been taken to hospital (not the virus). The indirect result of covid is that I can't see Dad & he can't see his grandson because I need to keep wee one safe. Families making decisions no families should have to make. My heart is aching. Broken.
ALL WEEK: Sake. Hurry up weekend. Two whole days off. The things I could do. The things I could see. The world is my oyster!

SATURDAY 12.05PM: I'm bored.
Most of the time when big businesses fail to pay taxes and try to cheat the system, the media holds them to account. Except in Scotland, where when Rangers do it they somehow become the victim of the piece. This narrow minded loyalty blindspot is a journalistic embarrassment.
A multimillion-pound blunder by the tax authorities is being blamed for the financial implosion that wrecked Rangers Football Club and sent shockwaves through the sporting world
I know I haven't posted a lot of pics of Francis and I probably will only do so on the very odd occasion, but I know you're all wanting a proper wee look at him so here he is, ready for the game, and still not impressed by the Copenhagen result... 😍🥰😂
I try to be nice on social media, but please do fuck off. I don't care what you think of how I look, I've just had a baby, a bereavement and a pandemic. I quite like how I look. This body and mind has been through a lot and I'm still here, providing for my son. Scram.
This is the centre of Glasgow. This is a crowd being escorted - not arrested - by the police while they scream at the city's Irish to go home. This is 2021. Don't try and tell me that Scotland doesn't have a racism problem.
@vickyford
TRANSLATION: I'm on Twitter taking an easy pop at poor people under the guise of WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN when the truth is that it's nothing short of a miracle that poor families have kept their children alive under the brutal, inhumane policies of my government.
My best friend - who happens to be a massive Rangers fan, which makes this an even more awesome thing to do - got my Dad a wee gift to keep him warm while he's in hospital 💚💚💚💚💚
NOTE TO ALL MEDIA - I want to settle something: An injection is called a jag because it's jaggy. It's not called a jab because jabby just sounds silly.
You're welcome.
I find the treatment of
@_KateForbes
very troubling. Aggressive atheism isn't progressive. Trying to exclude people of faith from political roles isn't ok. This isn't purely about her views - this is about the fact her views are informed by a religious faith. It's discriminatory.
I'm genuinely a bit upset about this. I find these briefings really important, we're in a global crisis. I really don't understand why the briefings can't be televised when there's literally nothing on the BBC Scotland channel at that time.
I would like to say an absolutely huge thank you to all who have supported me in this surreal year. There has been great sadness in the loss of Dad and Tam, but great joy in baby Francis. For my beautiful boy, and for his Daddy and Papa, I'll work towards a better future ❤
I think I can honestly say I've never felt as passionate about Scottish independence as I do now. This has been a defining year. Scotland can do this. And we can do it well. We can shape our own country. It has never been a more appealing prospect.
He is some man! After a couple of weeks in hospital and being very very unwell, Dad did what he always does and turned it around. Francis has his Papa home ❤❤❤❤❤
We had umpteen claims from
@ScotTories
that
@NicolaSturgeon
was guilty multiple times over for breaches of the ministerial code and wanted her to resign - now we know she wasn't but we know multiple Westminster Tory ministers are. So what say you
@Douglas4Moray
- should they go?
Have to admit I'm finding the level of interruption by Andrew Neil in these interviews a bit off-putting. It was the same with Nicola Sturgeon last night. It's important not to let politicians waffle and evade but you also need to let them answer a question
#AndrewNeilInterviews
One of the tough bits after someone you love dies is when the world moves on. When everyone has paid their respects and shown their kindness but the grief remains and hits you like a ton of bricks. I know loads of people will relate to that. I miss Dad so much.
Scottish Conservatives leader
@Douglas4Moray
says on The Sunday Show that comparing ministerial code breaches by the Prime Minister, Priti Patel and Matt Hancock with Nicola Sturgeon allegedly breaching the ministerial code is "not comparing like with like". How convenient!
To put it politely, it's very unpleasant to be a Catholic in Glasgow today as the city streets are consumed by an anti-Catholic hatefest. Politicians, you are in a privileged position where you can speak out. What kind of person are you if you have that power and choose inaction?
Dad's funeral tomorrow will be the first in that Church since March. We're allowed 15 people there. We can't sing hymns and we have to wear masks but still, I'll take it 🙏❤
Today a group of women stood outside a Catholic Church in the east end of Glasgow as an anti-Catholic march went past, and made it clear that no longer can these things happen without the hate that motivates them being called out. Today was an important day
#CallItOut
I ... am I actually reading this correctly? The Rangers chairman thinks the police should have moved benches out of George Square to make it easier for a huge crowd to illegally gather in the middle of a pandemic. Ladies and gentlemen, here's what entitlement looks like.
(Continued) Rangers FC chairman: “We cannot understand that after police intelligence clearly highlighting that a celebratory crowd would gather, street furniture was not removed as is standard practice.”
That's Francis and I home and settled. Thank you all so so much for your lovely comments ❤ It has been a whirlwind few days. Absolutely overwhelming in so many ways. And one of the best bits, hands down, has been seeing papa and grandson together. So much love ❤
I shielded for months, I buried my father during lockdown, he didn't even get to see two of his sons before he died. So many of us stuck to the rules in the worst circumstances and when things finally ease up a bit folk go and fuck it up for the sake of a party. I'm pissed off.
The doctors are trying to make Dad as comfortable as possible and we're hoping he'll be transferred somewhere else in the next couple of days where we'll be able to see him. We were able to get a priest in to see him tonight, which means a lot to us 🙏❤
It's shit that there are new restrictions but that's why pandemics are shit. Full stadium fitba games will come back but people who die won't come back so until we have more conclusive data about omicron then maybe a bit of caution would be a kindness to the most vulnerable.
In the last year I've become a Mother, a carer for my terminally ill Dad, and then a grieving daughter, and then a lone parent after my baby's Dad died. I work two jobs to support my son and I. From home. Just the two of us. Happy
#InternationalWomensDay
I attempted suicide twice when I was in my teens. It still scares the hell out of me to say that publicly, but it really is

. I once thought I had no future, but look at the life I've built. Reach out, accept support. You are not alone, pals x
As a supporter of Scottish independence who recognises that
@theSNP
will be the dominant political vehicle involved, it would be bordering on unforgivable if internal party skirmishes messed it up at the point Scotland is heading for Yes. I hope those involved will consider that.
I know I never spoke much of Francis's Dad - he wasn't a big social media/internet kinda guy so I always respected that. But I am keen that you all know that he was a wonderful Dad & one of the best people you could meet. He was funny, caring and strong. I will miss him terribly.
The fact that I had my first baby, lost my Dad and then lost my son's Dad within the space of nine months is starting to sink in. Lately I just keep thinking, did this really happen? It's just overwhelming. I feel utterly exhausted.
#grief
We've made a big decision here at the Haggertys - Dad's moving to Glasgow to live with me full time. That way I can keep an eye on him and he can spend lots of quality time with his grandson when he arrives. It's the best move for all of us ❤
I think the loneliest part of grief is the bit where everyone thinks it's gone away, that it's all done with now. It doesn't work like that. The first stage of grief is easily a two-year stint. It's life-altering. You don't just wake up one morning and everything's fine.
Lol it's funny because that's exactly what I said when Rangers tried to have my national column removed from the Sunday Herald after I'd edited a book about their financial demise and been critical about the threatening behaviour of some of their fans. What a turnaround!
Why am I getting so pissed off with hearing about how terrible it is that university students can't go to the pub/go home? I don't mean to be callous and I'm trying to understand the outcry but I'm struggling. This is about public health in a changeable situation.
SO SO grateful to medical staff who let us facetime Dad today. He was sitting up watching an old Celtic vs Rangers game. He was playing with Francis and trying to touch his nose on the screen ❤🥰😂 I'm immensely thankful for those looking after him. Angels, heroes, all of you x
I took a big first step in handling my
#grief
today. I'm going to be assessed by a psychologist due to the complex nature of everything that's happened and then take it from there. I know grief can't be cured but accepting support can make the road a bit less bumpy.
I see Theresa May's tears and raise you the tears of poverty stricken Universal Credit claimants, working people eating out of foodbanks, the homeless and immigrants fighting deportation, racism and discrimination.
I am desperately sad to let you all know that baby Francis's Dad has died suddenly. It is a massive shock. I'm in shock. Francis is only seven months old and he's lost his father. And his Papa. I don't even know what to say. No words.
I'm getting so many messages re last night's
#bbcqt
that Twitter won't let me scroll back to read them all 😂 I always try to acknowledge folk's kindness on here so if I haven't seen your tweet apologies, but I am very thankful for such lovely comments. Gold stars all of you 😁⭐
As a debater and politician Nicola Sturgeon is in a different league in comparison to Richard Leonard, Jackson Carlaw and Willie Rennie. I'm really not trying to be cheeky about the three of them - they're knowledgeable & passionate - but there's a noticable gulf
#stvdebate
Only months after the General Election, the two politicians who kept banging on about 'getting on with the day job' have signed up for reality TV programmes. Slow clap for Kezia Dugdale and Ruth Davidson for some stinking hypocrisy 👏👏
This Prince Harry interview is up there with Princess Di's. Him opening up the inside story of the Royals' relationships is incredible. He's his mother's son and he's changed the perception of the monarchy in ways the UK doesn't yet understand. The Daily Mail must be raging.
Following having a baby, a global pandemic, the loss of my Dad and then the loss of my little boy's Dad, I'm:
✔ The Mum of the most amazing boy
✔ Off my post-natal medication
✔ Going back to the office tomorrow
✔ Rocking my favourite hairdo again
Fuck yeah 🙌
Neil Lennon's courage really is something else. So much respect for that man. Calling out anti-Irish racism is not easy in Scotland, and especially not when you've been the target of violence multiple times. We are lucky to have a man like Lennon in our country.
Consistency is accepting that Catherine Calderwood had to stand down. It's being appalled that Dominic Cummings is still in a job. It's calling for Margaret Ferrier to resign because it's the right thing to do. Tories are in no position to play political point scoring on this.
Well well. Here's the official Rangers account only months ago posting pics of Scott Brown being goaded and him walking away. He then gets assaulted three times on the pitch on Sunday and the papers are full of reports about an inquiry into HIM for smiling. Couldn't make it up 🙈
Here's
@HumzaYousaf
calling out anti-Catholic bigotry and anti-Irish racism on
#TheSundayShow
this morning. I know many Catholics will relate to the quite emotional feeling of relief to finally see acknowledgement of what we have faced throughout our lives. Thank you Humza! 👏👏
It's ok to feel personally sad about the queen's health while maintaining a republican political position. It's also ok to not feel anything despite the national peer pressure to be sad. Or you can be a bawling mess. Either way, let's not start demanding emotions from folk 👍
