Data analysts take note. The overwhelming success of deep learning proves that with the right algorithm, a pre-cleaned data set and as little as 20 million dollars worth of compute, anything is possible.

There may come a day when we reflexively believe everybody younger than us is rotten. Thankfully that day has not yet come, so we get to appreciate what @mpbrown716 is up to captaining @CodeForBuffalo & tempering data-first with human-centered design. https://t.co/CM4d7b9FDw

Our friends are better people than we are, so this checks out mathematically and observationally. Very much enjoyed this piece from @AllenDowney on the inspection paradox. https://t.co/30owo3BeTW

What happens to 311 calls? If you're lucky, great people with data skills use them to improve services. We think that makes folks in #miamifl pretty lucky. We talked patience+ performance w/ @_Cheriene, Strategic Planning+ Performance Mgr, City of #Miami https://t.co/97EuNznWIB

It's easy to get discouraged doing data work in the mission-driven sphere, but a little reminder from @RandyBeanNVP that has given us comfort: This work is hard everywhere. https://t.co/JJwtg0hByv

Maybe we're unfailing optimists, but this looks like a positive sign (in the short term, at least). More firms know what they didn't know, so they are both improving AND feeling worse about where they stand. Seems like necessary / healthy growing pains?

Five bucks you won't find a data conversation with a better reference to Carl Jung's "Modern Man in Search of a Soul" today. Thank you @ChrisBrunton3 for taking the time to chat Peter Principle and transitioning from English major to analyst with us. https://t.co/lPmhnzfGt6

“Information isn’t power. Informed relationships are power." A treat to speak w/ @AKrolikowski about analysts as navigators and collective action. Not all chats enter terrains of info asymmetry and coordination costs, but glad this one did. #data4good https://t.co/6KNVujiWlH

Had a lot of fun chatting with @DaveMathias for @dataable podcast this week. Covered a lot of ground incl. data superpowers, what we're up to, how it all got started, and what we're trying to achieve. Looking forward to sharing around when the episode comes out in a few weeks!
