There is no community agreement on the need to research this more @guardianscience In fact, most polar scientists think these ideas are economically and practically unfeasible, environmentally dangerous, and have major governance and ethics issues! https://t.co/SiRg8i2ccz

Super chuffed to be promoted to Professor of Micropalaeontology @LES_UniBham. To my knowledge one of the first female Earth Science profs @ the university. Many thanks to my wonderful colleagues, friends, students and collaborators who’ve supported and inspired me on the journey.

A very exciting day here @CU_EARTH as we took delivery of our new @thermosci Neoma MC-ICPMS/MS! Thankfully the welsh weather was kind to us and we got all the pieces into the lab without a hitch.

One week left to submit applications... Come work with me (@CU_EARTH) and @Faithatron (@kclgeography) on our @LR_Foundation funded project on disaster preparedness at the household level, in contexts where there are multiple, interrelated hazards.
I'm recruiting a post-doc! Are you an interdisciplinary researcher with an interest in disaster preparedness? Come and work with me at @CU_EARTH ⬇️ https://t.co/mHRteQlXOK

World’s oldest fossilised trees discovered along Devon and Somerset coast. 35 years searching for the oldest forests and they were only 20 miles away! You live and learn. Great to work with @Censedgeol and @willmcmahon92 on this project.

Want to know why Michelle Donelan was forced to make an extraordinary apology to two academics earlier today? It's a bizarre tale involving Policy Exchange, a secret government dossier and a libel case paid for by the taxpayer A short thread (1/10)

Just released my latest paper about the 'peri-column' on G-cubed! Introducing a new boron purification technique using pumped ion-exchange column chromatography. Cut down the process to 1.5 hrs for 12 samples🚀and limited TPBs to ~ 10pg B! #boronisotope

2023 was the warmest year on record globally by a large margin. Another dark red stripe gets added, though I think I need a new colour. #ShowYourStripes

@CarolineLear: "This report doesn't just set out the urgent need to reduce CO2 emission to 0, but it also reminds policymakers that if they make decisions in an equitable way, we could see positive impacts build until we reach a beneficial tipping point for society & the planet"

It was great playing even a small role in this mammoth report (paleoclimate appears in section 1.5). But if you want to head straight to the “inspiring” part, check out section 4 on Positive Tipping Points in Technology, Economy and Society
