ERCs DONT:.- be afraid to stay in draft.- assume your vision of the problem is objective and exhaustive.- assume you’ll figure out everything alone.- think that a good specs written by a good author will necessarily get adopted.- think that a spec that isn’t adopted has value.

ERCs DO:.- draft in public.- have more than one author from more than one project (standardization is a team game).- spend more effort trying to reach out to devs (to get feedback and contributions) than trying to finalize the document on your own. 1/2.

How are supposed not to make fun of chemists when they make these kind of statements? This is just making the (imo bad) point that physics is a superior science compared to chemistry!. (Please tell me what element a neutron star is made of).

Is it me, or are LZ77 implementations different? Like they all use different encoding, and data that is compressed with one library cannot be decompressed with another?. How did we come to it?. Can’t there be a clear and standard dictionary-based, easy to decompress, format?.
