The click-to-cancel rule was set to go into full effect this week, requiring that firms make it as easy to cancel a subscription as it is to sign up. Firms had 6+ months to come into compliance. But the new @FTC is giving them more time to keep trapping people in subscriptions.
Have you ever signed up for something online, then learned you can only unsubscribe on the phone? FTC voted to stop that insanity 6 months ago. Now its new leaders just voted to give companies 2 MORE months to get in line. Commissioner Slaughter and I would have have voted NO.

What does it say about our legal system when the U.S. Supreme Court refuses to stop an execution even when the county prosecuting agency that handled the original trial files a brief in support of a stay and supports vacating the entire conviction? #MarcellusWilliams

CVS is being sued for asking customers to donate to the American Diabetes Association when they check out. Those donations are in fact *not* sent to the ADA, but instead reimburse the CVS for a legally binding obligation of $10M that CVS promised earlier https://t.co/t8IAiqyu43

Hey y'all have you heard about the Affordable Connectivity Program? It's a $30 deduction off your Internet bill + you can get $100 to put toward a new computer or tablet. The program is through the FCC and was part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. 🧵

Thank you @GovofCO for signing the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act into law and thank you @Cutter4Colorado @ValdezforCO @SenadoraJulie for getting the bill through the legislature. Nothing we use for a few minutes should pollute our environment for centuries.

Thank you @Gadgetress for covering this really complicated topic. If you use a global opt-out, a company can ask you to opt-in. That shows an opt-in model is possible and should be the standard. https://t.co/DWVWxseWMa

Yes, you can ask a company to delete your personal data. No, it doesn’t apply to all personal data. Yes, companies must figure it out by July 2023.
