If only we knew what level of government is responsible for the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act, 2019 It’s a mystery for Doug
Premier Doug Ford on Marineland: "It's not a government site," Ford says. The premier says he hopes the "whales survive and get treated properly" Ford suggests the province isn't looking to step in an take over the defunct attraction. #onpoli

So, I grew up in total poverty in a farming town in southern Texas. By a lucky chance I was able to attend university. The first week on campus I set foot in the student library, and what followed was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. (thread)
Imagine being at a university like Harvard or Oxford and using AI to think and write. The whole world is unpaywalled to you. The world's most beautiful and well stocked libraries are open to you. What a waste.

We need an alternative to the five big banks that are making record profits while charging us excessive fees. Postal banking is that alternative - breaking the market dominance of the big banks, strengthening the postal service and saving you money. As this fantastic report from

Among the many proposals to transform Canada Post, one stands out: postal banking. It’s a program that could contribute to solving multiple policy problems at once—help support our postal service...

The vile antisemitic terror attack at a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach that took the lives of 11 people was an unspeakable act of hate and violence. To target people gathered in faith and joy is hate in its most violent form. As families in Ontario gather to light their

Appalled at the targeted attack on Jewish Australians on the first day of Hannukah - an act of hate, antisemitism, terrorism. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and we stand with the Jewish community in Canada and worldwide in grief, condemnation and solidarity.

Reminder: Doug called an early election to fight US tariffs in order to “Protect Ontario.” So what did he do when he won? He took a 5 month summer break, & now he’s going on another 3 month winter break. “Protect Doug From All The Scandals” is more like it.🤨

Because…there is so much bleak stuff going on, and this is heartwarming, and it’s made by a French animation team (not by AI), and it’s gone viral and everyone in France is talking about it. Enjoy! 🇫🇷🐺🎄 https://t.co/RBfVuzE7rv

Mon cœur est avec la communauté juive après l’attaque terroriste survenue lors d’un événement de Hanoucca en Australie. Un acte d’antisémitisme comme celui-ci brise bien plus qu’un seul rassemblement. https://t.co/eBlaKPeigm

This is a summer-time post: Sutcliffe gets points for recycling, but loses on appropriate context post-budget when it's -20 out and snow clearing is an issue. #ottcity

My heart is with the Jewish community following the terrorist attack at a Hanukkah event in Australia. An act of antisemitism like this shatters more than a single gathering. Attacks like these wound people far beyond one place, one night, or one country. https://t.co/njVmLOxV1z

How Doug Ford won re-election as premier, only to unfurl his Captain Canada cape and big-foot Toronto's mayor. Ford grew so fixated on Capitol Hill, Parliament Hill and City Hall that he took his eye off Queen’s Park. Today's column

At year’s end, Ontario seems no better off. Unemployment has soared under this premier, and the economy is teetering.

I'm obligated to point out that: 1) Non-governmental charity exists because of government policy failures 2) Charity is exponentially less efficient at addressing systemic gaps than policy change @fordnation has the legislative tools to address poverty, but not the willpower.
Today, I joined volunteers at the Salvation Army Toy Drive to help support families and spread Christmas cheer. Thank you to all the volunteers and donors who make the holidays brighter for children and families across our province.

@Alex_S_Cullen It is weird to hire private security...its almost like admitting our Police services are failing...which kind of sucks for a functional society.

Relying on private security in the Byward Market is not a good look. Questionable training, no accountability. But cheaper than real cops. #ottcity

I first heard this promise some 50 years ago. Yes it's a good idea (long over-due) but I will believe it when I see it. #fromMissouri #cdnpoli

In most marriages, one person handles the money. The other has no clue where anything is. Then the "money person" dies. And the surviving spouse is left in the dark during the worst moment of their life. I've watched this nightmare unfold dozens of times. Here's what you need
