During 2020 we all noticed fewer motor vehicles on our roads. Our quieter roads were filled with people cycling. I was one of them. We have an opportunity to maintain this trend, let's seize it. ❤️🏃🏾♀️🚲🦽🛴 @BWMnetwork @ColmorePe @woodthorpeji @WheelersLanePri @SustransWMids

Two days until the #WestMidlands Mayoral elections. We want to see candidates committing to safe town centres, high streets & neighbourhood roads, to tackling #Speeding, reducing traffic & ensuring robust enforcement. https://t.co/wuyd5uo290

Pedestrianised York Road in the sunshine with places open is even better than expected. The absolute jewel in the crown of the #kingsheath Low Traffic Neighbourhood. Such a buzz last night. Let’s never go back to how it was before please

This is... lovely (except bike lanes should be Bham blue of course.) All the active travel benefits are amazing...and the Sustainable rainwater drainage (SuDS) afforded by those biodiversity-increasing planted verges! @bhamconnected @BWMnetwork @KingsHeathCAN @Active8Brum
This section of A road is a fairly typical 20 metres wide. Plenty of space to accommodate continuous cycle tracks protected by a planting buffer. Some side roads are filtered to prevent rat running Support with: https://t.co/ONkDbupu9Q or buy me a coffee: https://t.co/8qWP6UyY6O

This 10yr old had just used these local safer streets to learn how cycle whilst indicating. She's building confidence cycling with slow motor traffic, beginning to achieve independence to travel around the city without needing to be driven. A small part of a better future. 🛹🛴🚲
A reminder that creating space for humans on streets is always the right decision. Skates & spirit levels.

Hundreds of thousands of children cycle to school every morning in the Netherlands. Kids cycling up to 15 km one way are no exception. The streets are literally full of cycling children. The cycle highway from Geldermalsen to Culemborg is one such road. https://t.co/Uyf5HzyICQ

“People will use the infrastructure that you give them, & because we’ve built cities for cars, everyone wants to drive. But if we were to start building cities for people to walk in, people will change their behaviour & will live longer and happier lives.”

I can fully say part of why bike trips can be so sweaty is due to REAL anxiety and fear about cars. How many of us would🚲 a bit more slowly if we didn't have to worry about a disgruntled driver? Expanding bike lanes enable slower cycling because ppl can go @ their own pace.
