Importantly, these disruptions extended beyond atrophy distribution in each FTD patient group.

The principal gradient was disrupted in all FTD variants. The secondary gradient showed widespread disruptions in patients with bvFTD. svPPA and nfvPPA exhibited focal alterations. Additionally, the visual network showed responsive and/or compensatory changes in all patients.

We applied cortical gradient mapping to resting-state fMRI data of patients with FTD including in bvFTD, nfvPPA and svPPA, as well as controls. We identified a principal gradient distinguishing sensorimotor from DMN, and a secondary gradient dissociating visual from salience.
