I tentatively think there may be a vicious cycle aspect here, where as institutions like unions w/skin in the political game decline, activists rely on support from donors who don’t have skin in the game and so prioritize rhetorical postures that move them over results.

I want one of my mutuals to read the Brandon Terry civil rights movement book so I can figure out if the interesting-seeming arguments are worth tolerating the annoying-seeming writing.

I think this consideration is arguably a variation on the Fourth Way (the common good shared by you and your neighbor in love is of a higher grade of perfection than your individual good).

For whatever reason my patience with long novels seems to suddenly give out around 850 pages in - from then on it becomes a slog and I need to keep recalling the sheer absurdity of not finishing to keep going. (This is why Middlemarch was the perfect long novel for me …)

For this week's Great Rosary Campaign, we are praying for the conversion of @BenShapiro to the Catholic Faith. Perhaps it seems impossible, but nothing is impossible for God. The suggested penance is a 24 hour water fast (adjusted for your state in life). Let us pray!
