If you told me four years ago that I’d be more interested in a new Harry Styles album than a new Chance the Rapper single, I wouldn’t have believed you. But here we are.
Mike McDaniel said he talked to Tua today and said Tua was saying he didn’t want to miss games. McDaniel said, “Don’t even think about a game. Let’s just think about doing everything the right way, to listen, to get opinions that you need and let’s worry about you and your head.”
Miami's 2024 defensive line class now includes:
-5-star Justin Scott
-4-star Artavius Jones
-4-star Marquise Lightfoot
-4-star Booker Pickett Jr.
-4-star Elias Rudolph
-3-star Daylen Russell
-3-star Cole McConathy II
Not bad.
Jim Larrañaga opens his press conference by saying he heard Charles Barkley was going to take his shirt off if Auburn won, so the Hurricanes wanted to make sure to avoid that.
A wild story with a massive what-if: While the everyone waited for Jeremiah Smith to send in his NLI, Smith said Cam Ward called him and said if Smith picked Miami, Cam Ward would go to UM, too.
Smith went to Ohio State. Ward is going pro. Huge what-could’ve-been for the Canes.
'A lot of doubt': Behind the final hours of No. 1 overall recruit Jeremiah Smith's recruiting process, with Ohio State and Miami tangoing and one big Cameron Ward what-if.

🚨Some personal news🚨
I’m extremely happy to announce that I will be the new Miami Hurricanes beat writer for the
@SunSentinel
! I love college football and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to cover Miami as they go into this new, exciting era!
Hurricanes safety James Williams announces he is entering the NFL draft, as we previously reported he was expected to do.
Williams, an American Heritage alum, is the third UM player to announce he is turning pro, joining Leonard Taylor and Javion Cohen.
Mario Cristobal said he “has to apologize” to the Miami fans who packed Hard Rock Stadium tonight.
“No one feels this more than I do. I hate it for our people.”
Hurricanes women's basketball coach Katie Meier violated NCAA rules by facilitating "impermissible contact between two prospects and a booster," the NCAA announced today.
The Hurricanes WBB team is put on probation for one year, the program is fined and more. Story coming.
Big surprise out in Wellington today, as
#Gators
coach Dan Mullen is flying in by helicopter to visit Wolverines star Mark-Antony Richards.
@Mark21Richards
Certainly looks like there is something else the officials got wrong on Saturday in a crucial spot. This play was also reviewed, and it stood.
There is no defense for Miami not kneeling to end the game, but the officials seem to have had an all-time bad night.
@ABLichtenstein
in college football, your down when you initiate your slide. It looks like he’s down at the 1 ft line and there’s no way GT is going to be able to get down field to line up again with 2-3 seconds. Miami should have won
Mario Cristobal says Abram Murray was kicking 62-yard field goals, and Cristobal said he thought he was an NFL player working out.
He went up to give Murray and his family the recruiting pitch, but Murray shook his hand and said he was committing on the spot.
Recruits get a lot of negative comments on social media. Jeremiah Smith had something to say about it.
“It ain’t helping nobody. It ain’t helping you. That kid’s going to college. You’re just sitting on the couch all day.”
@Jermiah_Smith1
The Hurricanes are employing an advanced fitness tracker, created by a company called TigerTech Solutions and designed for the military, to monitor players' fitness levels.
No other sports team, pro or college, has access to it yet.
Mario Cristobal said Jacolby George and Brashard Smith were in fact held out of the first quarter due to their penalties at the end of the Louisville game.
He said they handled it well.
Hurricanes left tackle Jalen Rivers confirms that he plans to return to Miami next season.
“I see where this program is going, and it’s going in the right direction.”
Mario Cristobal said early reports are that things are “relatively normal” with Kam Kinchens.
Cristobal said he will go to hospital after leaving the stadium but thinks Kinchens will be ok.
Miami offensive coordinator Josh Gattis gets surprised with the presentation of last season’s Broyles Award, awarded to the nation’s top assistant coach.
Where things stand now: If Miami flips Armondo Blount from FSU and Adarius Hayes from Florida, they will have the No. 3 class in the country — just barely behind Ohio State for the 2 spot.
If they pull off a coup and flip Jeremiah Smith, they will be second behind Georgia.
Sad to see Jahfari Harvey, Corey Flagg Jr. and Don Chaney Jr. leave Miami. All very nice guys and a joy to cover.
Best of luck to them at their next stops.
Which is dumb as hell. The Yankees have lost their No. 2 starter, their starting CF and two key relievers in meaningless spring games. If you're doing anything athletic, you risk injury.
The WBC is a big priority for Manfred, it’s not going anywhere. But teams already don’t love having their stars compete, so they might decide to be hardasses next time.
Looks like 6 UM targets are will commit in the next 4 days:
5-star OL Francis Mauigoa
4-star TE Riley Williams
4-star DL Jaxon Howard
4-star ATH Rob Stafford
4-star DL Darron Reed
4-star ATH Collins Acheampong
If UM got them all, they’d have the No. 4 class in the nation.
Kevin Steele on what his vision of a UM defense is: "You want to go into Pro Player Stadium and in the fourth quarter, you want to make your opponent start thinking, ‘Hey, I can’t do this any longer. Let’s get on the bus and go home. This is Miami.'"
Really insane series of events that had to happen for Miami to lose Saturday. Ref not only had to get it wrong on the field but then also get it wrong in review.
Lance Guidry on rumors he could leave for LSU or USC: "I think you always want to be wanted. Those places that are talking that, I've got an agent and my agent hasn't told me anything about that."
"I love it here and think we're building something special."
If I knew on August 1st that Miami would beat Texas A&M, beat Clemson and stay within a touchdown of FSU, I would’ve thought they were 10-2 and having an excellent season.
College football doesn’t always follow expectations, though.
Rueben Bain Jr. said he went to Sonic near Hard Rock Stadium after the win over Clemson. He said he’s a big Sonic guy.
Potential NIL deal in the future? Sonic Boom or something? 🤔
Jacurri Brown said he’s grown the most in throwing from the pocket and is now at the point where he believes he can throw as well as he can run.
He said he’s also up to about 225 pounds now. He got to Miami at about 195.
Mario Cristobal said he spoke to any players who made mistakes in the last few plays (Chaney, defensive players, etc.) and said it was not their fault and it was on him.
Mario Cristobal says today’s win is “continued progress.” Says last year’s roster wasn’t capable of sustaining a high level of play but this year, most of the games are close or coming down to the wire, and today was maybe their most complete game.
BREAKING: The Hurricanes announced they will retire Heisman-winning quarterback Gino Torretta's No. 13.
Miami will hold a number-retirement ceremony during their home finale against Louisville later this month.
NEW: Mario Cristobal says the Hurricanes will look to upgrade through the portal this season, saying Miami is looking to add 30+ players between prep and portal prospects.
Mario Cristobal jokes he'll be in the athletic facility late at night, thinking he's the only one left in the building, and Kam Kinchens will still be there, studying film.
