I don’t know if Georgia thinks it will actually win this (I am skeptical, not in full) But actually filing it may have other benefits (deterrence to others on roster who might try to leave)
Wilson transferred weeks after signing a new deal. He received only $30k but, according to the terms of the deal, owes $390k for leaving. The claim (technically for liquidated damages) isn’t legally allowed to be used as a penalty - only to recoup lost potential earnings.

Think they are the first to take it to court. Others did get bought out by the destination school in summer of 24 if I recall? Never made it to court.

Ahem The cap is not a thing. The idea that any big time coach, much less Lane Kiffin, would go work for FSU’s AD right now given his stance on the cap, is preposterous.
Another example of a football program that is aiming for a payroll well over the House settlement salary cap (which covers every sport, not just football).
