So much for road safety, eh? Cyclist deaths are up 71% this year, and TAC, government and VIC police don't care.

There’s basically a media blackout on this story. Genocide isn’t newsworthy?

Israel destroyed the third-oldest Christian church in the world
What a bloody disgrace! The launch of the Myer windows has been cancelled because of the threat of protests by pro palestianans! What sort of society have we become, where a few, no doubt again supported by the Greens, destroy opportunity for the majority, especially our young.

The year is 2058. The Melbourne bike lanes have been ripped up and reinstalled for the 62nd time. The average daily temperature is 45° and trees no longer exist but the council is still unsure on the viability of sustainable transport

If countries like Ireland have a "Safe Routes to School" programme, why doesn't Melbourne? Why doesn’t the state government value the lives of the most vulnerable road users—pedestrians and cyclists?
“Of course, our roads have changed a lot since then, but nevertheless, within the environment we live in today, I think it is just as important that children today can also be allowed to get into and out of their schools safely."

Oh well… maybe next week @ABCmediawatch @TheRealPBarry ?
This is a massive media scandal. @SkyNews posted a video accurately describing what happened in Amsterdam. It described violence perpetrated by Israeli football hooligans, and their hideous racism. They then deleted it. This is the original. https://t.co/RsdN9ULiKQ

Somehow the residents of this street one over from school got a 20 zone installed … what’s their secret I wonder!

@7homask @VicGovAu @AnthonyC4PV My council put these out on my street a few times over a period of time and concluded that because only 17% of cars exceeded 55km/h on my 50km/h, that was within spec and there was no need to investigate any methods of traffic calming.

Vic govt must act on Inquiry into the Impact of road safety behaviours on vulnerable road users recommendations as report tabled in May 2024 https://t.co/4EcbzmyQXc 'The government is required to respond to a committee’s final report within 6 months'

The inquiry process is managed by a committee. The work of inquiries has six key steps.

Here’s @VicGovAu deciding whether my kids’ lives are important enough to warrant slowing drivers from 50 to 40 - at a manned school crossing! @AnthonyC4PV

In May a bipartisan committee tabled its report into the Safety of Vulnerable Road Users to the Vic parliament - it contained recommendations to reduce harms on our roads. The government has not responded to this report let alone implemented a single one of its recommendations.
Today should've been an unremarkable sunny Tuesday for the Auburn South Primary School community. Instead, a dark shadow has been cast over our city and state.

And yes, now is exactly the right time to politicise this death, before anyone asks

As Minister for Roads and Road Safety 22 June 2020 - 5 December 2022, what actions did you take to lower speed limits through physical infrastructure around schools, activity zones and on major active transport routes? Cc @TimRRead
I am monitoring the terrible incident unfolding at Auburn South Primary School. I've asked @VicGovDE to be on standby to provide whatever supports are needed. I’ll be thinking of the whole school community in the days and weeks ahead.
