95 years ago, Victoria criminalised cannabis. Billions have been spent trying to eradicate it, yet more than one in three of us have tried it. Since then thousands of Victorians have been convicted, fined, jailed. It's time to legalise it. #legaliseit

Every party in the Vic upper house, except Greens, voted AGAINST a Greens motion to scrap Group Voting Tickets and opaque preference dealing. Many claiming to oppose it now, voted last year to retain it. Vote Greens in both houses for integrity and democratic reform. 1/2

@SamanthaRatnam Here's how the liberals, labor and entire crossbench voted against a 2021 motion to fix the system before this election.

Yesterday Victoria's parliament moved, with Labor and Liberal support, to stand with Israel, recognising "its inherent right to defend itself". The Greens tried and failed to amend the (mostly good) motion, then voted against it. Overnight, a hospital in Gaza was bombed. 1/3

It's a good project, but until they increase train frequency, it's primarily a car project. Let's hope there's more to be announced about the northern end, so we get a modern frequent train service.

This week the Greens want to amend the Victorian Renewable Energy Target so we aim higher: 100% renewable energy by 2030 rather than the 50% we'll get with business as usual. #drought #Amazonfires #climate #coal #SpringSt

Update: There was an ambulance code red overnight in metro Melbourne due to the COVID wave meaning more patients and fewer available staff (due to illness). Has the prevention penny dropped yet?

Premier was just asked by @ellensandell if, given the success of climate candidates on Saturday, the Government will now reconsider their support for new gas production near the 12 Apostles marine park, which has just been approved by the oil and gas regulator? #SpringSt

Very concerning to read reports of heavy-handed use of OC (pepper) spray by police at the Palestine protest in Melbourne on Sunday. Statement from the Greens here.

#WarOnWasteAU asking why Victoria doesn't have container deposit legislation? Just a couple more #Greens in parliament and we will get it. Let's keep plastic out of the seas.

But seriously, it's good that we're getting closer to seeing a much needed protected bike route from the north to the CBD and hopefully more frequent Upfield line trains. Forty years ago they were about to scrap this line. #SpringSt

We need to be aware that the farcical collective evasion of responsibility for the viral transmissions sparking the hotel Q outbreak that led to Victoria’s second wave, distracts us from other important failures, which had more to do with bad management than bad luck.

Right now @GabrielledeVie is speaking to a #Greens bill to regulate short stay accom like Airbnb to increase rental supply. And @VictorianLabor MPs are talking as loudly as possible and interjecting to drown her out. #SpringSt #Renters
