Did you miss us? The Open Street is back this Saturday! We couldn't be more excited to enter our 5th season caring for this free community space in the heart of Astoria. This weekend we've got a bustling roster of events on Saturday and a laid back Sunday afternoon 🧵

This is the most amazing thing in NYC, and it is insane that it has been years, and we STILL only have it in ONE street in Queens. Why haven't we scaled this up? Why aren't ALL residential areas like this? Why isn't there even a plan? @Lynn4NYC @NYCMayor @yating_liu

In case you missed the news last week - we're back for our season launch on Car-Free Earth Day, Saturday, April 20th!

But more than anything, we need @NYC_DOT to step up. The reimbursement model in itself is a major equity issue that limits participation in Open Streets to communities that can pay for costs upfront, and it's worsened when those communities are left holding the bag for 8 months
