Pure cope. No we weren't told for years. This is nonsense. Some, like myself, pointed out for years that tokens weren't equity and tied to nothing. I even launched a project trying to confer equity, token gated equity, no one cared.
We were told for years that tokens were pseudo-equity, a wink and a nod from investors and founders that when clarity came token holders would be first class investors and be compensated for years of bag holding and that was all mainly a lie
