Adlington & District War Memorial commemorates 207 military casualties. In #Adlington Cemetery 9 casualties of war lie at rest. I felt it appropriate to pay respects as Town Mayor of Adlington and lay a poppy cross at each grave before Remembrance Sunday. #wewillrememberthem

Here’s a crystal clear photo of Hawthorn Redoubt. You can actually see some of the detail in the trenches. Also the locations of several dugouts.

@CWGC @RUSI_org Do you ever consider that you've completely lost the plot? Proudly hosting events while your cemeteries continue deteriorating? Stark evidence from a day on the Somme earlier this month - Couin, Auchonvillers, Serre Road No 2 & Puchevillers.

Rarely use this platform nowadays but it's a good way to highlight the continuing deterioration of CWGC cemeteries and memorials. I know I am not alone in pointing this out.

At the risk of banging the same old drum, this is simply not good enough @CWGC. Rather than tell me to mind my own business @pdhudson1, can you and @dgcwgc acknowledge that your revised cemetery maintenance is simply not working?

In this episode we talk to @NealRussell17 about 2 disastrous trench raids on #Somme. Why did they carry out raids and how did the soldiers feel about them? And why was a German raid on British trenches at Fricourt such a disaster for the 6th Northampton’s? https://t.co/ktSgra4XTv
