This podcast is now available. The most challenging and emotional I have done as Alix talks emotionally about her Dad, Captain Mark Hale. https://t.co/muOtOA49q4

Thread: Today has marked the 110th anniversary of the actions at the Hohenzollern Redoubt - a truly dark day for the men of 46th Division and their families. If you'd like to know more about that day, you can read my blog and listen to a podcast I've recorded (posted below):

Please do listen to this one. It was the most difficult, but inspiring, I have done for the podcast.

Major General Haldene took the Zillebeke weather vane from the ruins of the church to UK in 1915. In 2014, the war battered vane was returned to the church, with a replica installed in the 1990's. I visited yesterday. #ww1 #ypres

Found this soldiers' graffiti in Villers au Bois near Vimy yesterday. It was the rest billet for 85th Canadian infantry #WW1. Their CO Lt Col Beckett is buried in @CWGC Villers Station Cemetery. In No Man's Land leading from the front in a gas attack, he was shot in the head.

Occasionally the shallow outline of #ww1 trenches can be seen on the Western Front. I noticed these trenches today near Souchez in the shadow of Vimy Ridge.

Terry’s Tours have 11 tours in the diary already for 2026, including 3 family tours all the way from #Australia. And 2 school tours. It’s just a hobby, not a job…and hopefully we will reunite many families with their #ww1 #ww2 ancestors. https://t.co/05cQNeT9hj

On the second anniversary of October 7, we remember the lives cruelly taken, the hostages still held and the grief that endures. Mourning the innocent is not a partisan act, it’s the beginning of our shared humanity.
