Is this why I fall asleep at 6pm when I do a morning long run?

For every 30 minutes of sun exposure before 10am, you fall asleep 20 minutes earlier at night and sleep quality is significantly improved ☀️ 🌑 💤

What’s the work to rest ratio of 6 min of work spread out over a day. Whats the next step in development? More volume or less rest 🤣

@SageCanaday The craziest part is we're arguing over a study where the benefits came from 6 minutes of vigorous activity spread through the entire day... So Grandma doing 30sec spurts of chasing the kid or dog or walking quickly to catch the mailman spread over 14 or whatever hour days... 6

This is funny. It’s like the health and longevity world is going through the same relationship with VO2max as endurance performance did a long time ago. They are finding out there is more to it than just the number.

VO2max has not been measured or predicted in any of the studies popularly claimed to tie it to longevity. One set of papers from Finland that nobody cites showed that measuring VO2 offers ZERO utility to predict longevity relative to performance on a cycling task. In fact,

I think @paulsaladinomd & @SecDuffy are trying to do a very positive thing here. However, I think it may be misplaced. People who are new to something rarely thrive in an environment that is too advanced. Micro workouts are approachable, but expecting people who are new to

Gyms are coming to airports… I had the privilege of spending time with @SecKennedy and @SecDuffy as the DOT announced a new initiative to bring gyms into U.S. airports. This is a $1B grant program that airports across the country can apply for to build real spaces for people

Honored to be at the Humphrey building today for @CMSgov's ACCESS model event. ACCESS is the first Medicare payment model purpose-built for technology-enabled chronic care; paying for outcomes, not activities. It covers conditions affecting two-thirds of Medicare beneficiaries,

This is why I avoid running like the plague personally High odds you position your feet wrong and then running on asphalt makes it worse because it doesn't bounce like running on sand or grass would I can't count how many people I know who have knee injuries from running, it's

One of the reasons I wanted to chat with Jeff was at @wser 100 he averaged only ~600ml of fluid per hour on a hot weather day. He tested in a lab at 2 liters per hour in similar conditions. He broke down how he managed to lower his fluid needs.

I can almost guarantee when a runner goes out of their way to avoid a specific zone/intensity within a five zone model for long enough, it will eventually become a meaningful mover for their long term development.

I'm going to start a movement called "All training zones matter..." To emphasize that everything is needed, in of course the right mixture for the demands of the event. The constant back and forth of zone 2 vs. zone 5 vs. zone 3 is exhausting and mostly pointless.

Brady is probably right on this one. I for one would be pushing women and children out of the way to get to these gyms.

Putting gyms in airports is probably one of the all-time worst “public health initiatives” ever imagined. A gym-bro fantasy that sounds great in theory but will be terrible in practice (if it even gets there).

Jeff has been crushing the last ~1 year on the trail ultra side of running. He has been running trail ultras since 2015, so I wanted to dive into what he has been doing to have such an impressive jump in performance.

Marathons are one of the dumbest “fitness goals” people pursue. They’re a net negative for health, athleticism, longevity, and physique. What are you actually doing? ➡️ Jogging at an extremely easy pace… for hours ➡️ Sacrificing muscle tissue ➡️ Spiking cortisol for several
