News story about opera outreach project in Bradford - showing children it doesn't have to be about "big voices" and all that conventional stuff. Well my first opera was in Bradford and it was precisely those things that lit the spark. Why be squeamish about your core product?

On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made several claims about the BBC’s coverage of events in Gaza on Sunday. They were false and misrepresented. @BBCRosAtkins with BBC Verify breaks it down:

Until Woman of the Day palaeontologist Mary Anning born in 1799 in Lyme Regis came along and unearthed the complete skeleton of a plesiosaur when she was 24, there was little to challenge the Bible’s story of creation and the Flood. Geology was a new theory. The first national

that's the beauty of singing...it gives such visceral joy and lifts the soul in so many contexts: from the ethereal beauty of a cathedral choir to the thrill of community singing. All equally vital. Bravo @tom_daggett and co.
Words can’t describe the depth of love and joy felt at Sheffield Cathedral last night. It’s no lie to say that people are crediting singing with us each week with saving their lives. https://t.co/meJRqwHLk9

Just heard the deeply sad news that Matthew Best has passed. He was one of the finest singers of his generation and his choir training was inspirational. I think he was the greatest influence on the modern day pro choir. His @hyperionrecords discs changed the profession. RIP

New @SingWellProject study alert! 📢 Our paper in @FrontNeuro shows that group singing reduces cortisol and alpha amylase in patients with Parkinson's; In addition, pain threshold increases following singing were related to cortisol. Kudos to @adiel_mallik for taking the lead!

I'm delighted at the collective outrage regarding the felling of the Sycamore Gap tree. I'm appalled at the lack of outrage regarding the systemic destruction of trees by local councils and 'developers'.

Total thrill to sing @willtoddmusic’s wild, passionate, genuinely extraordinary Requiem for choir, soprano and electric guitar with @ElysianSingers. Susan Young and Tom Gray were magnificent and seeing a packed house rapt as we sang was a thrill. Next: Handel’s Israel in Egypt.
