Good energy efficiency programs start with defining results you want and then giving professionals the flexibility to meet those objectives. If we want people to get off fossil fuels and have lower bills, let’s give programs the ability to do just that with all tools available

Struggling with 19% of their income going to energy costs, the Zheng family went from energy burden to relief through the Home Upgrades Program. Read their story:

“We need to move fast but community engagement needs to be slow” - hearing this over and over at #roadmapforth conference. The best way to address this is to invest in community support long term in service of future projects, it’s never too late to start!

Spent last 4 yrs advocating a low income home upgrades program in AB. told no more times than I can count. found amazing partners. Yesterday delivered a free deep energy upgrade for family that spends almost 20% of their income on energy bills. Taking a moment. What a feeling.

One stop shops are nothing new in the rebate world but what is awesome is that this best practice will now be codified in legislation. For those keeping score that’s in addition to mandatory equity requirements in CA. Now do Canada! https://t.co/cJjXnFXKgq

If you’re doing outreach to people experiencing homelessness & addiction and no one is accepting what you’re offering, it’s time to re-examine no only what you’re offering but how you’re offering it. It starts with trust. People have to know and trust you first.

First Nations are taking a leadership role in reducing carbon pollution. Our government’s boost to the Community Energy Diesel Reduction program will help First Nations in remote areas of BC expand clean-energy projects that help us move away from diesel. https://t.co/PllNUlZUzW

The irony of releasing an RFP that (in part) aims to remove barriers for low income households to access utility programs and requiring potential proponents to pay $70 just to read the document 🙈

It seems that free registration is only available to some speakers, and that doesn’t include me. The irony that they’re asking me to speak about equity and inclusion is apparently lost on them.

Asked to speak at a conference on equity & inclusive approaches to retrofitting vulnerable homes in Canada. Offered a free registration as a speaker but already paid. Organizers refuse to refund and said if I don’t like it I can withdraw as a speaker. You can’t make this shit up

In Canada, we are closing the Prime Minister's residence because neglected renovations now make it unsafe! Did you know that in 2004 @NDP leader Jack Layton had a plan to upgrade the residence & get $1 B for energy efficiency in all homes? #cdnpoli https://t.co/KFahJ9xyep
