Update from somebody who knows: Northern lights are less likely in the south tonight than they were last night. Still in wait and see mode, but the solar energy isn’t as impressive so far.
The chances for G4+ storming are lower now that we have seen the CME impact with strong Bz north conditions. G2-G3 conditions are possible, but displays may be limited to U.S.-Canada border states with the current Bz situation. I am not as confident in a huge storm like we saw

The Kp has reached a maximum value of 9- so far during this event. This is the same as the October 2024 storm in terms of Kp, but still shy of a G5 classification which needs a full Kp 9. Still very impressive, though!

I usually dismiss aurora chances... But...
I have never seen the Bz below -60 nT. This is one of the lowest recorded values in the last twenty years if not the lowest. G4-G5 storming is entirely possible if these conditions can sustain. The aurora will now quickly react to this pressure pulse. Get ready! Webcams will be
