Friendly reminder that I have a 60+ page e-book about aurora chasing that is completely FREE using the code "FREEBOOK" on my website:
I created this e-book to help address the hundreds of questions I get every week about auroras...
I had to drop off some friends at the airport, but the aurora was too bright to ignore. I pulled over and we all watched as the sky came alive.

Last night in Fairbanks we had some amazing pink colors caued by high-energy nitrogen emissions during a brief but intense substorm.
I like to call this "watermelon aurora." 🍉
What I'm dubbing the "Valentine's Day Storm" - one of the most amazing nights of auroras I've had in my life. When I saw them getting bright, I had to pull over on the side of the road - I ended up staying there the entire night because the auroras never quit!
The skies absolutely exploded last night. This is a real-time video taken around 3 am just east of Denali National Park. Still can't get over how colorful and active this aurora was...

One of the most vibrant displays of northern lights just occured above my head in Fairbanks, Alaska. All the colors you see here were easily discernable with my eye, including the red, which is particularly rare to see! This was an unforgettable aurora!!
How do you know an aurora is bright? Look at the ground. If it's green, you're dealing with a particularly intense display.
From last Thursday, the Kp 8 storm.
In my element - in the middle of a boreal forest deep in the Alaskan Interior with auruoras blazing 360-degrees around me, my cameras clicking away to document the memory.
Filmed on Feb. 14, 2023 near Fairbanks, AK...
HUGE aurora pop right through the big dipper up phere in Fairbanks, AK! This was insanely bright and colorful to the eye. Around 30 seconds in, the aurora goes from great to mind-blowingly spectacular.
Pointed my camera up at the perfect time, right as the aurora exploded and rained down directly over me. A perfect example of what we call a “corona” (deriving from the Latin word for crown)!
"Lay Down!"
Sometimes, that's all you can do when the aurora explodes right overhead. In this clip, I tell my friends to lay down and stop taking photos - this is a moment worth watching and enjoying without the worry of capturing it. I'm laying in the snow just watching the…
An even more insane clip from last night - the sky literally turned into a portal to another universe, it didn't feel real. This aurora explosion was one of the coolest things I have ever witnessed in my lifetime.
I filmed this in Fairbanks, Alaska at around 10:33 pm AKDT. This…
Timelapse of the aurora explosion from January 13 right outside our AirBnB near Seljalandsfoss, Iceland! You can really see how fast the aurora changed, it was amazing to see in person, the camera doesn't do it justice!

These photos were taken 30 seconds apart. The aurora is very dynamic and can move quickly. This is why I like timelapse - not only can I recreate the movement of the aurora through videos, but I can select the best times where the aurora manifested interesting shapes.

Hello new followers (and old followers who I haven't introduced myself to)! I'm happy you found my page. My name is Vincent Ledvina, I'm an aurora chaser, astrophotographer, graduate student, and I'm here to share my love for the auroras with the world!
The most insane aurora I have witnessed. Finally got around to processing this monster of a timelapse from March 5 in Fort Yukon, Alaska. Hope you enjoy!

Here is a beautiful timelapse of a dynamic aurora featuring deep red colors. This shot faces SOUTH and the aurora is actually seen on the horizon. Since I am located in Fairbanks, AK, that aurora would be directly overhead in Anchorage.
The "Valentine's Day Aurora Storm" (2-14)
Another real-time video from last night's lively auroral display. The movement was really awesome! This is real-time motion, NOT sped up!

Good night world!
Here's my magnum opus of aurora timelapses, over 8000 images over 17 nights of spectacular northern lights over Fort Yukon, Alaska. I really pushed myself harder than ever to create something special. Let me know what you think.
The color of the aurora was magical last night in Fairbanks, Alaska! Deep reds, purples, and blues that were quite the rare sight. Usually, auroras are green, but not last night!
(4x5 crop)
I observed some very interesting striated aurora around 11:40 pm AKST on 2-14-23. Here is a real-time video of that formation. It's almost hypnotizing.
I hope everyone is ready for tons more aurora content!
I am currently processing all the real-time video I have taken of aurora since the beginning of February - over ten nights and hundreds of clips!
Here's one from last week on February 13! Last week's auroras were insane!!!
Shifting skies - even when auroral activity is in a "lull," the faint structures move and ripple like slithering snakes. All around you, the aurora is in motion.
All of the sudden, the aurora became insanely bright and that's when I knew something big was about to happen. This was filmed during the KP 8 super aurora storm on 3-23-23 up in Fairbanks, AK.
Tonight's aurora in Fairbanks, Alaska was easily one of the brighest I've seen.
This is recorded in real-time with barely any post processing applied. It was quite the feeling being underneath this view, really just awesome in every sense of the word.

That moment when the aurora is so bright that the ground looks radioactive. 😳☢️
The snow literally looked like it was glowing green to the eye. I was fiddling with some camera settings and noticed everything bighten up around me, then I looked up and saw the massive aurora that…
The Earth was still rattling from the G4 severe geomagnetic storm on Thursday night and last night (Friday), we had some spectacular displays right over our heads in Fairbanks, Alaska!
This is what I like to call "oil spill" aurora.

I experienced something unique last weekend during the KP 7 strong geomagnetic storm... VERY intense, vivid, deep red aurora! These colors were easily visible to the naked eye, appearing as a crimson "blood red."
The March 23, 2023 severe geomagnetic storm... revisited in timelapse - 3400+ photos over 7 hours combined into a 30 fps movie.
Sit back and enjoy the best night of aurora I have ever seen in my life.
These photos took almost 20 hours to render on my computer.
A giant aurora vortex (cinnamon roll aurora) that started forming as we were driving to our next photo spot in Coldfoot, AK. It was extremely bright and colorful to the eye but got even more intense once we pulled over.
2-27-23
During the KP 8 event, I observed extremely purple diffuse aurora along with east-west bands almost immediately after sunset. In Alaska where magnetic midnight is around 2:30 am, it is rare to have aurora this early let alone dynamic structures! This was special.
Aurora is absolutely CRANKING at 34,000 ft right now. Greens, pinks, and reds all naked eye visible. Just experienced substorm expansion. Directly over Wrangell, Alaska. AS97, SEA-FAI

"Due to the ongoing geomagnetic storm, drive times may be longer than usual due to pulling over to watch the aurora"

Gorgeous northern lights last night in Fairbanks, Alaska during the Kp 7 geomagnetic storm.
The colors were beautiful, and the reds were the best I have seen ever!
Here is a short real-time video of an auroral corona around 2:15 am.
What a great night of aurora chasing!
Last night I photographed the Milky Way above Palouse Falls in Washington! The feeling of standing at the edge of a 380 ft cliff hearing water thundering below while the stars blazed above was incredible.

The aurora last night deep in the Brooks Range, 80 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Alaska.
The Alaska pipeline and an access road are seen here. The pipeline runs from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez and is one of the longest pipeline systems in the world.
