My first 1st-author publication is now out on the regionality and seasonality of tornado trends in the United States. Adding to the array of literature on understanding the role of internal climate variability and anthropogenic forcing on tornado activity.
Dear Illinois, Michigan State, and Northwestern fans
I know we all have our differences, but we have to root for each other!
A good run for the B10 in this tournament is good for all involved.
Illini and Spartans, go get ‘em tomorrow!
Braden Smith, Cam Heide, Myles Colvin, Fletcher Loyer, TKR, Kanon Catchings, Daniel Jacobsen
Honestly Purdue should be the B10 favorite next season too.
It’s February, Purdue is 22-1, and the last 3 games might be the best they’ve played all season. Purdue is capable of winning the national championship. Doesn’t mean they will, but the point is, Boiler Nation, keep enjoying this ride. This team is special this season 💛
Illinois is 0-2 following a Coleman Hawkins taunt of Purdue. While too small of a sample to have any statistical significance, it is becoming a trend.
Just focus on your own team, man.
Purdue is in the sweet sixteen for the 5th time in 7 tournaments
Thought I should say that considering the narrative that Purdue never advances past the 1st weekend
I want to remind Purdue fans everywhere that nobody wants this monkey off their back more than the players and Painter.
No matter what happens tonight or in this tournament, we love this team and our university no matter what. We’re family 💛
Go Boilers
Bill Walton just said: “Purdue loses to Indiana and nothing happens. Arizona loses to Stanford and they fall off the 1-line. Something is wrong with that.”
Bill… losing to Stanford is a lot worse than losing a rivalry at assembly hall to a ranked team.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Friday night’s game between # 1 Purdue and # 9 Illinois will be the first all top-10 game at Mackey Arena since January 1st, 2010 when # 4 Purdue beat # 6 West Virginia 77-62. Should hopefully be as good of an atmosphere as a break game can get
Purdue and Illinois run B10 basketball until proven otherwise.
Combining for 6 of the 8 B10 titles the last 4 seasons.
* Illinois probably should’ve had a hand in the 2021 regular season title
* Purdue very easily could’ve had a hand in the 2022 regular season title
(1/4) I’ve been a diehard Purdue fan for all of 6 years so I’m not going to pretend that I know every emotion that people felt about the final four clincher. But what I do know is how close and connected the entire Purdue community is, and how much passion and pride that…
When filling out my bracket this year, I’m going to do something I’ve never done on a real bracket and pick Purdue to win the National title. No matter what their matchups are.
If they go down, I’m going down with them this year.
@USA_Polling
A barrel of crude oil will make approximately 19 gallons of gasoline ( ).
So $7 per barrel would make a gallon of gas $0.37. I didn’t realize gas was already cheaper than that
@CollegeGameDay
@DukeMBB
Could’ve gone to Bloomington for IU/Purdue, missed opportunity. Ranked matchup, # 1 Purdue entering their rival’s cathedral. First time the two have ever met with Purdue ranked # 1. Big-time missed opportunity
This is the true Big Ten Conference.
-Midwest
-Great Lakes
-“No our corn is best!”
(Plus Penn State and Nebraska to an extent)
In my book, always will be the true B10.
Uconn losing a road game to a good team has no effect on the rest of the year. But after all the crap Purdue took for being ranked # 1, seeing Uconn lose before Purdue feels good. Purdue’s first loss will probably come soon too.
There’s nothing I want more in the sports world than a Purdue basketball final four and national championship. Nothing comes close right now. So much heartbreak. Isaac Haas’s injury, the Virginia Hail Mary, North Texas, St. Peter’s, FDU… PLEASE. Let this be the year… please...
Has been an absolute joy to watch you this season Lance. You understand what it meant to be a Boilermaker from day 1 and you embraced it. You are loved in West Lafayette 💛
If you don’t have a great season, at least win your rivalry game
Purdue keeps the bucket in West Lafayette and ends the season positively.
Purdue finishes 4-8, it was a roller coaster season. I am optimistic for the future! Purdue wins both of their trophy games
It is 9:30, basically an hour after the game has ended, and Zach Edey is still making sure that every fan who stayed got something signed or a selfie taken
Former Purdue head coach Gene Keady said that to win at least a share of the big ten championship, you need to do the following to go 15-5:
A) win all your home games
B) split your road games
C) lose a home game, steal a road game.
Purdue will be hard to beat at Mackey
Minus the 2019 elite eight, the sweet sixteen has been one of the most difficult rounds for Purdue to advance out of over the years.
All hands on deck against an improved Gonzaga team from the one Purdue played in Maui. Purdue is better too though.
Let’s continue this story
(1/14) My thoughts on the Big Ten Championship Game between Purdue and Michigan. First off, this has been a special season for Purdue football. We are not Michigan, we are not Ohio state, making it to this game is special. I have great respect for UM, but I believe in miracles.
@NBCSWhiteSox
Maybe so, but Liam you’ll also find that more Sox fans are knowledgeable about baseball and truly passionate for their team. No bandwagons here. We love our Sox. Our fanbase is quality, Cubs fanbase is quantity. I’ll take quality any day
Ranking B10 basketball arenas
Tier 1: Purdue, Indiana, Michigan State
Tier 2: Rutgers, Maryland, Illinois
Tier 3: Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota (the Barn has had its moments over the years)
Tougher after that tbh. Tier 1 and 2 I think are pretty solid.
@max_munchy
@snyyankees
You’re missing the context! It was because everyone was trashing him! In no ways does it give white players the right to use it against him as a joke.
@whitesox
I feel… relief. My heart will always love this team but I’ve never hated a White Sox team more. No fun, and often playing like they don’t give a crap. Tons of respect for Cleveland, they play the game the right way, the way we should. The Sox forgot what it’s all about
For the first time in Program history, Purdue will play a home game as the # 1 team in the nation.
PACK MACKEY ARENA, don’t know why I even said that because it’s never an issue
Seen some talk on Purdue’s “light” big ten schedule benefitting their route to the title. This goes the other way too. Last year’s team went 14-6 and missed a share by 1 game. They had ILL x2, WIS x2, RUT x2, IU x2, MU x 2, IOWA x2, and went to Breslin.
This adds context to the Lance Jones transfer that I didn’t know before. Knowing how Purdue handled the situation and how much they cared, it makes me so proud to be a Boilermaker. 💛
Matt Painter was looking to add a player who could provide the following:
▶️ Ballhandling
▶️ Quickness
▶️ Defense
Enter Lance Jones (
@LanceBuckets
), who's proving to be the perfect fit for No. 1
@BoilerBall
. 🚂
Whenever Purdue goes on the road, the opposing student section will almost always have some sort of reference to one of 2 phrases:
- “Purdont”
- “Boiler down”
It’s a part of college sports, I don’t get why Texas is bothered by it this much.
@CBBonFOX
Purdue was Unranked in the preseason and seen as a mid-tier B10 team
14-1, easily look like the best team in a (down) B10
Number 1 for 4 weeks
Losing Ivey, Stefanovic, Williams, Hunter yet they didn’t miss a beat and may be better than last year.
Has to be Matt Painter
One thing I hate is that Purdue could lose tomorrow and people would say that proves Purdue wasn’t good.
Purdue has nothing left to prove tomorrow to anybody, everyone knows Uconn is incredible.
How I see the big ten power rankings heading into the new year, did I get it right?
1. Purdue
2. It
3. Is
4. Not
5. Possible
6. To
7. Make
8. Accurate
9. Big
10. Ten
11. Basketball
12. Power
13. Rankings
14. Minnesota
Stunned by Purdue's beauty. From the arcs on each entrance, tiled rooftops, the ripened aging of the Memorial Gymnasium. Spacious and modern but with a classic, Greco Roman touch. Can't wait to explore more.
#Purdue
#boilercountryscores
Back-to-back double digit B10 road victories for Purdue. Regardless of who you play, that is a very good week. Purdue returns to Mackey on Tuesday to play a Dug McDaniel-less Michigan team. Mackey should be rocking once again.
@CBBonFOX
@BoilerBall
@IndianaMBB
@B1GMBBall
Their last national championship happened long before any current Purdue or IU students were born. It has no emotional relevance to anybody. It has no say in what they’ve done recently. Indiana is Purdue’s state.
Purdue plays in the Big Ten Championship game tomorrow. And no matter how great the odds are against us, if there’s one thing I’ve learned about Purdue football over the years it’s to play the game. Boiler Up, Hammer Down, Hail Purdue, and Keep Believing. 🚂⬆️
(1/3) # 1 Purdue at Assembly Hall today, which has never happened before. In many ways, it’s just another game. Purdue could lose and still be # 1 arguably. A win and Purdue comes one step closer to sealing # 1 overall in March. But of course, it’s IU vs Purdue
Last night was amazing to witness.
I probably don’t have to tell most Purdue fans this, but take nothing for granted.
Want more, expect more, strive for more. Another early exit would be very disappointing.
But Purdue is a half-court missed prayer away from a B10 title 3-peat.
@MarcFiscHoops
Matt Painter is not leaving Purdue, not with what he has going there. It’s his alma mater, they love Purdue, he loves it here and they love him
Purdue will eventually lose a game where they don’t shoot well. But the little things they are doing always travel and will always give them a shot. They did something they didn’t do last year, they won their first game as # 1 and are now 11-0🔥
Mackey arena looks to be ~60% full for an alumni game/intrasquad scrimmage. Despite the loss the FDU, there’s never been a better time to be a fan of this program. Excitement levels are through the roof
Now that a few days have passed, I want to say thank you to all of the amazing Purdue fans on here.
Sports aren't everything in life, but this past winter was very difficult for me. Watching this team with all of y'all was filled with needed positive emotion and a...
Very disappointing to hear of the behavior from students this morning at Mackey arena. Purdue athletics should have been more prepared but the students are 100% at fault here. Pushing, shoving, rushing to the front and knocking people down… be better Paint Crew students.
