#OTD in 1816, the #LeedsLiverpoolCanal officially opened. #Wigan was a last stretch to be finished, & the date was carved in relief on Britannia Bridge 53, along with the Lancashire & Yorkshire roses. It’s also on the stonework of Pottery Changeline Bridge 51, partially hidden.

The River Deben in Suffolk ladies and gentlemen. At four different sites E. coli levels were recorded at over 50,000 cfu/100ml. 900 cfu/100ml is considered "Poor" for bathing water.
