For @TheRestHistory - Ring of Bright Water is from the Gavin Maxwell book. A doc of Tarka was made in 1978. Elementary otter-error there. Otherwise, lovely episode.

Distinguished Prof @ProfAliceS agrees a talk @BristolUni 15 months ahead. Ludicrous protests stifle her statistics session. Uni doubles down on 'free speech', ignoring importance of truth & evidence to such speech. Universities losing their way, much.

Prof Alice Sullivan says her talk at the University of Bristol became like a "zombie apocalypse" during the protest.

I too studied @CambridgePhilos (Jesus, 1980). The Faculty, famed for rigour & sound logic, must heed Thea & @CUSocOfWomen calls for loud defence of free speech - & robust clarity of thought.

Excellent article on the importance and difficulty of ensuring Reform are properly scrutinised before the Senedd elections. https://t.co/CJokKvZAIF

Martin Shipton The media is under attack in Wales and Britain as a whole in a way that is unprecedented – and we at Nation.Cymru are in the midst of it. Reform UK and its leader Nigel Farage hate...

This row about Farage that has resurfaced, as discussed on #newsagents @lewis_goodall &c. I’m 4 yrs older than NF. My family boycotted TDUDP, B&WM &c because racists. We weren’t all watching those, let alone jokes about gas etc!

Fascinating listening to @drrachelhewitt about erasure of women in history, esp in sport, esp due to the codification of late C19. Maybe @TheRestHistory could interview her following the recent episodes on sport.

Fascinating disc @lewis_goodall & @jackclarkSF re AI. But seems naively optimistic about how much humans care about others or the planet. Whose values? Ask the #womenofAfghanistan whether people care. How will you keep AI in hands you judge safe? And who are you to decide?

8/ What is happening here is an attempt to replicate Goodwin v UK, to try to secure a European Judgment to force domestic legal change. Times have moved on. This is likely to be doomed to fail, but the misrepresentations around this campaign will do lasting damage to faith in the

Just how badly are NHS Fife mismanaging their PR? What possesses them to make so many unforced errors? @davidyelland & WIHTF team, what can organisations facing legal challenge learn from this?

Visited the Ghurka Museum in Winchester today. Saw the memorial to my great uncle Louis Tanburn who died at Basra in action in 1917. Many relatives died in WW1&2 & yet today #peace is again fragile.

Excellent thread, building on stat by @Freedom_in_Arts which rightly addresses the issues of artistic freedom & integrity in the welter of indignation around this issue. I too deplore the stitch-out of JKR (&NT cowardice) but this is the nature of participatory art work.
I’m on the advisory board of @Freedom_in_Arts and a member of @WomensRightsNet I deplored the stitching out of JKR’s name, but I appreciate the freedom to stitch, unpick and re stitch was a core part of this artwork I truly support freedom in the arts, of speech, and to believe

Shw'mae @FoldingRockMag I'm getting just a screen saying the host hasn't started the meeting! What am I missing? Sitting like Patience upon a Monument, not drinking wine in the garden.

Interesting discussion of language on #bbcantisocial by @adamfleming. For good reason quite London-centric but sad to miss out almost any mention of #Cymraeg as also a crucial UK language. Also we encourage migrants to learn. Croeso i bawb ! https://t.co/vj72TpYYpV

Helpful article @bbclaurak. Big Q for #newscast: why wasn’t all this true for #PortTalbot, w/ 000s of jobs & more helpful owner? Yes, world has changed but some of this (G7 capacity) was true then too. Wales would like to know.

The vote later won't determine British Steel's future, but is a first step towards a possible nationalisation.

Hey @maitlis @jonsopel have you heard of #jobevaluation? System (imperfect but functional) designed to deal with fairness in assessing different roles. Most LAs have operated these effectively for years.
