Trump told people what they wanted to hear, he validated their bigotry, and told them they were smart for believing it. They rewarded him with their worship, which cost them their powers of reason and morality. For that reason, more than any other, I will never forgive him.

When I was 7 or 8, I would routinely meet a friend at a park, and play for hours, completely unsupervised. We shot off model rockets, shot a bow and arrow, and nobody batted an eyelash. We’d crawl into drainage pipes, and wade barefooted in ponds.
