One of my favorite talks I gave in 2019 was this one-off at @TheLeadDev, about motivation. https://t.co/IYrJpidKzi

@nikovirtala I mean, to my mind "Feature Flags" are synonymous with @LaunchDarkly, mostly due to spending too much time watching @wiredferret talks.

@lizthegrey Jetbrains no longer wanting to be associated with DevTernity or JDKonf. Pulled sponsorship and had their logo removed. Again, show me another conference that has had advertised fake, non-existent speaker profiles for years. Why would any brand want association with one.

If you're both lucky + right about the thing you open source being useful to a large group of people, it MIGHT create top of funnel. Most of the time, IT DOES NOT. Dev-founders have an implicit, utterly wrong, belief, that users turn into customers.

To understand this, you have to understand the business value of open source. It is largely at the stage we call the "top of the funnel" - essentially it's in creating a massive user base as quickly as possible. These folks then eventually are turned into $ somehow.

overcoats look so much better when they reach at least your knees. the only problem with a knee-length coat is that it's cumbersome when you get in and out of cars (hence why pic 1 is called a car coat). but this is all the more reason to walk or take public transport

OMG no. No. If you work in DevRel, DO NOT copy your customers’ work. I’m dealing with something and haven’t gotten into all the details of this situation, but just… no.

@nico_jeannen @vercel The DevRel employees at Vercel are tasked with creating interesting projects to drive people to use their features like edge & functions. Best way to do this quickly is to duplicate something that has worked. Can’t blame the DevRel folks because they have to do it to keep a job.

I'm currently working on an article about how to dress larger builds, and I interviewed three men whose style I greatly admire. All said: wear high-rise trousers. They are more comfy and flattering. Compare pics 1 and 2 (high rise) to pic 3 (low rise). https://t.co/VtoC4uoN74

if you hide money and gold bars in a tailored jacket, you should get your jackets made with a poacher's pocket, which is a large internal pocket on the lower half of the garment, enforced by a strap that connects to the armhole. hunters used these to hide game from gamekeepers

Popped down to the @gitlab Devsecops World Tour event, which is in London today. It's completely packed, literally standing room only. Looks like they underestimated demand.
