The baby finally arrived at 2.22pm. Not so little Oscar is 9lbs 3 prime ready for 2040 Super League Man of Steel then 2042 Dally M (go to Australia for the cash son.
@kat_2880
is exhausted but fine.
Reading on Facebook, Wigan fan Martin Critchley who suffered a cardiac arrest just before the Toronto game inside DW Stadium is now back home in Doncaster via hospitals in Wigan & Stoke.
From life support to home, via a few procedures, in three weeks. That's our wonderful NHS.👏
Empty stands for the last two matches but hardly a surprise when tickets at Leeds in middle of main stand are £55 or £70 and likewise at Warrington £45 or £72. Even sat behind sticks is £40 or £30. Ridiculous ambition.
Reading on Facebook that the Wigan fan taken ill just before the Toronto kick off last week seems on the up. Was really poorly and is still in Wigan Infirmary but can get on his feet now at least. Another occasion to appreciate not only NHS but unsung heroes of St John Ambulance.
Well after your SIXTEEN losses between finals or semi finals in the last twelve years every Wigan director, fan and player appreciates your expert analysis. Be grateful for Ben Flower in 2014 and the fact you've got Halifax this time. Surely you can't bottle this one. 👌
Just in case you’d forgotten they existed, Wigan have trolled their fans beautifully all week teasing a big announcement,only to unveil Mitch Clark/Jake Bibby & announcing new deals for Burgess/Clubb amongst others. Sad they’re aiming just to retain their SL status each year now!
If you didn't hear last night, myself &
@JoeMills20
will be partnering with the club to continue our commentary next season.
This will be a free service on the clubs website, to which they will explain more in due course.
Bennett gets the stick but the faith put in Kevin Sinfield at both Leeds and The RFL is mind boggling. He came into this tour talking about "real strength" and "real depth". Everything about this tour looks totally inadequate apart from the garments.
It's Wigan v Leigh today but it's also a team playing its 7th game in 32 days on just 3 and half days rest against a team who's had hasn't played at all for 31 days.
Doesn't matter who it is that is a tough ask on energy.
A year ago my dad and mother in law passed away from (in my dad's case a horrible long and tough) cancer battles whilst
@JoeMills20
was very ill in hospital. Fair to say we enjoyed that tonight.
@WishFmOfficial
Get in. And don't forget about Joe Shorrocks in April and May. The wins on Good Friday and a then on fire Warrington Away. Have a beer for him tonight. 👏
Sky have a reporter on the Rugby Union who "is in amongst the champagne and the canapés to interview supporters". That sums the difference to the other code. 🤣
Well done to this years lads continuing great standards in making it nine successes in eleven years.
Wigan top level academy champions in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017 & 2018.
👏👏👏
I hope those who suggested Matty Peet was a cheap option by Wigan are a bit more enthused today. They probably never saw his academy teams. We looked a well coached team last night and more importantly full of enthusiasm. Another good test v Leeds next Friday awaits.
Lucky Wigan. Toulouse were excellent to be fair, particularly in pack, just didn't take 4 chances to ice the game. They may not be certainties for the drop we all thought. Thanks for listening. We had 3,500 tuning in for that drop goal. Highlights later on Wigan TV.
Sure everyone agrees, Dom Manfredi wonderful back at end of last season but without Wigan moving heaven and earth to create a RESERVES game against an England Lions amateur side in August, he probably wouldn't have got the shot.
That's the importance of second tier opportunity.
My only sadness tonight is that after six of the last seasons with
@WishFmOfficial
we go out with this but it can't sour many great moments. I'll comment more on that over weekend but thanks for listening. Been a pleasure. Now to the pub. 🍻
Leeds & Widnes have picked up 7 points between them in the last 15 weeks of Super League but in League Express Hetherington reckons they have both "benefited tremendously" from the current youth system and points to them alone as reason for no reserve grade required. Delusional?
You can tribute Maurice by simply pointing out that between 1966 and 1984 Wigan had won no Leagues and no Challenge Cups.
Over the next 11 years we won a combined 17 League & Challenge Cups.
And the 1995 World Cup he presided over at the RFL was fantastic.
Didn't enjoy the result obviously but seeing Saints and Wigan fans enjoy the day with respect in the town afterwards is always a pleasure. Good Friday is always a special day that no other fixture can match. Weather was a great bonus.
Shame the season ended that way but I think Cust, Farrell and probably French would have been absences too far anyway in my view.
A great season nethertheless. Enjoyable to watch. Congratulations to Leeds. Good luck to whoever remains.
Till next season.
Couple of people bringing up the tweet I made at half time in hindsight of the miraculous second half comeback and accusing me of "doom and gloom". So I apologise for not being happy at 0-21 down against bottom of the league after travelling 1000 miles to be there.
Time to share
@wiganrlfans
and my happy news... Baby Bilko due to arrive March 2019! All being well Good Friday could be it's debut game at
@WiganWarriorsRL
Dom Manfredi missed the best part of 5 seasons during 10 years at Wigan. Starting with his first two years of Academy rugby (6 apps 2011 & 2012) then the chronic spell 2017 to 2019 (just 9 apps) but those two Grand Final tries in 2018 will always be there.
Liam Marshall made it 40 tries in 40 Wigan Appperances in last nights win over Leeds.
In comparison after first 40 Wigan games....
Billy Boston 45
Martin Offiah 44
Johnny Ring 41
Trevor Lake 40
Josh Charnley 37
Dom Manfredi 36
Joe Burgess 34
Brian Nordgren 33
Jason Robinson 13
❤️ It is with great sadness Wigan Warriors confirm today that Dom Manfredi has immediately retired from Rugby League.
After another consultation with a specialist, the 27-year-old has now decided to call time on his playing career.

I must have missed us being ultra patient over the last 5 years blooding in the likes of Harry Smith, Morgan Smithies, Ethan Havard, Liam Byrne, Joe Shorrocks, Brad O'Neill and now Harvie Hill & Junior Nsemba, to add to Sam Powell, Liam Farrell, Liam Marshall etc. 🤣
Channel 4 haven't had much sport over the years but what they've had (cricket, horse racing, nfl, Italian Football, Tour de France as examples) they've generally presented with class and put a full heart into it. A good move this. They'll hit the right note.

@SuperLeague
have announced a landmark deal which will see
@Channel4
broadcast 10 matches in 2022 and 10 in 2023.
🙌 It will see Super League matches broadcast free-to-air for the first time!

Worst attacking form since 1933.
Not won at Cas in 5 years, some miserable shellackings.
Not beaten a top 8 side since April.
Cas recently won at Saints, Leeds & Hull.
Nothing pointed to a win, but what a result. Probably 4th secure. Still plenty to do but bring on Magic.
Price will get the blame and probably the bullet but like Wigan 2000-2009 it's only when you start putting academy youth first & building your team around them as a core that you can make the big step. Warrington fall into the same trap every year.
Hand on heart we didn't deserve it but nethertheless it's all about winning it however you do it.
Homecoming at Robin Park tomorrow.
Enjoy the night. ☺️
I'll be back on the radio with
@JoeMills20
and Wish FM for the season ahead. I'll be on most games with a short break at some point early on when the stork decides to visit, hopefully after the World Club Challenge. 😅
Couldn't be more delighted for
@DomManfredi
to finish that move. A heartwarming moment given the circumstances.
The yellow card to Lineham helped flatter the score but Escare again brought a breath of fresh air and his involvement was very significant.
That is the best exhibition I've ever seen by a team against Wigan. Completely dominated in the pack. Completely. Saints play like that at Old Trafford, next week is a second place play off.
Wigan having 10 academy products play 10 or more games this shortened season has nothing to with them reaching the Grand Final.
Twitter says it's all thanks to Chris Kendall last night. So we thank him, especially for when he helped us win that Challenge Cup Semi Final we lost.
"Unscathed"
Most experienced player (Leuluai) missed 18 of last 20 matches.
Second most experienced player (Farrell). Injured - leg in boot.
Third most experienced player (Powell - hooker) not played since July.
Cust (half back) struggling.
Seemingly none are key players.
I absolutely pity you if you are so deep rooted in partisan thinking that you believe a Wigan player kneeing a totally defenceless player in the face would remain on the field, just because he is wearing Cherry & White. I cannot understand mentalities like this.
@loverugbyleague
Safe to say if the roles were reversed the Wigan player would have remained on the pitch. Wigan loving giving it out but cry when the favour is returned.
Still think only Wigan were going to stop Saints and even then I think we'd have to have been fully fit, firing and perhaps have a bit of luck. We did well to stop them in the cup.
I look forward to the challenge next season though.
From Grand Final win 22 months ago, Wigan tonight didn't have S.Tomkins, Gildart, Williams, Leuluai, Bateman, O'Loughlin, Flower, Clubb, Sutton, Tom Davies.
We're doing alright being close to top, never mind being top.
Personally I'll worry about next year, next year. I'm very upbeat for the rest of this season first. The best way to cement a legacy for those departing is to stop Saints in their tracks this season. That is the challenge and we should relish it.
I've commentated on 5 grand finals but managed to never get to do cup finals with Wish FM (2013 they wouldn't pay the commentary fee & 2017 I spent on my family illness hiatus), so I'm looking forward to the chance tomorrow. Even more so with it being at Tottenham.
Fair effort by Rovers youngsters tonight and huge credit also for fullilling the "reserve" match next door also given 14 changes in first team from semi final.
Good luck next week.
Back in 2002 Wigan hammered Union Treiziste Catalan 72-6 in the Cup in Perpignan.
16 years later, as the Dragons, they won the Challenge Cup.
Now they are requested to pay half a million deposit to defend the trophy they won.
The RFL embarrasses itself yet again.
I used to write loads - for 15 years in fact - not so much anymore
But I felt compelled to write some thoughts, so have a read.
And no I'm not bringing the website back. A one off. Having time to keep that up to date for gratis went a long time ago.
37 major trophies within 13 seasons was Shaun Edwards playing legacy at Wigan.
8 League Titles
9 Challenge Cups
7 Regal Trophies
5 Premiership Trophies
5 Lancashire Cups
3 World Club Challenges
Only his first season went without any silverware.

in League Weekly. Chris Kendall looks he's so confident he'd beat Williams over 100 metres that he's time to pose for the cameras on the finish line.
It's almost 20 years since Lesley Vianikolo murdered Wigan with 5 tries on an opening night in front of 17,000.
Just watching Bradford now on Viaplay losing meekly to Barrow and wearing Orange for some reason. Odsal looking like an amateur venue these days. I
I know some fans who had planned and bought train tickets for a Saturday Train to Hull.
Is that what we are having now? Drip fed Thursday picks for rest of season switching at 15 days notice?
I mean how can any club plan to market any game with short notice like that.
In the last 14 years we've drawn a trip to Saints, three trips to Leeds and four trips to Warrington in the cup. Our running of the RFL doesn't run deep enough obviously. 😝
The Challenge cup on Saturday will show that overseas club bring nothing to our RL game . Money is better invested in the lower divisions instead on clubs that are in France
