Kanti Bajpai is the senior faculty who most closely shepherded me through the first years of my first TT job at LKYSPP. And what a career he has had, from being an advocate for nonproliferation to advancing research on nontraditional security. We'll miss him dearly.

Excited to share my paper on unemployment and suicide with @pescosol. Using big administrative data on suicide, we show that unemployed people are more likely to die by suicide, but their suicide risk is lower when and where more people are unemployed.

The "swing state" analogy implies that geopolitics = a US election where the Winner Takes All in exec leadership. IMO, this paradigm is dangerous as much as it is inaccurate (eg Johnston's work on int'l orderS). Swing state also = battleground state and that sounds ominous. .
