How can a child consent to the possible destruction of aspects of himself/herself which they have yet even to imagine? What, to a 10 year old, is sexual intercourse, an orgasm, pregnancy, child birth, a lifetime of medication & surgical interventions? These kids have no clue.
The "puberty blocker" trial plans to recruit kids as young as 10. Kids that age cannot give "informed consent" to anything. Post-Cass, the issue of informed consent is ripe for reconsideration, despite relatively recent CA ruling in Keira's case. This needs urgently to happen.
