Assisted outpatient treatment, or AOT, may be coming to Allegheny County. AOT allows a person to petition the court to compel another person to get psychiatric care - medicine, therapy, substance abuse treatment, etc. - outside of a hospital

Assisted outpatient treatment moves involuntary psychiatric care into communities — a controversial approach among disability rights advocates.

NEW: The NIH has begun terminating grants for active projects on gender identity, DEI, environmental justice, climate change, among other topics. At least 16 termination letters have already been sent — and hundreds more are coming, NIH staff tell me. https://t.co/VbRI0qrJuN

Nature - Studies that touch on LGBT+ health, gender identity and DEI in the biomedical workforce could be terminated, according to documents obtained by Nature.

Its gonna get a lot harder to fund disability research. It was ALREADY hard. I hope donors come out of the woodwork. It is so exhausting to be hyperaware of pervasive equity gaps. Over and over disabled academics and allies are denied the resources they need to close those gaps

This is an excellent summary of Musk’s takeover of the Treasury from @NYMag’s @chasdanner, with quotes from WSJ, NYT, WaPo, and my op-ed from @MSNBC yesterday. But this quote from @smotus is right on the money. This isn’t efficiency. It’s a coup. https://t.co/XivGG5Zz2H

“Malicious compliance” is the term Trump supporters have started to use for the unintended or unpopular consequences of the administration’s aggressively chaotic and ill-intentioned management of the federal government.
So the order doesn't say to shut down the Medicaid portals. That gives us two options: 1) A bureaucrat engaged in malicious compliance shutting down government portals, or 2) Dems airing baseless rumors and whipping up a frenzy ahead of a White House briefing.

Trump is holding all the nation’s hospitals and vital services hostage to seize power from Congress and hand it over to billionaires. We must state the truth: this is a constitutional crisis. It’s a massive, illegal power grab that the House and Senate have a sworn duty to stop.

Absolutely stunning investigation. Despite widespread abuse in juvenile institutions, Philly still locks up kids at a rate seen in few other cities. https://t.co/Ev2qBuSOmX

Pennsylvania leaders have acknowledged the harms and abuses in juvenile institutions. Yet Philly remains a national leader in using them.

Why Medicaid cuts could be a ‘crisis’ for people with disabilities https://t.co/jlGyNCloJa via @statnews

If the new administration slashes federal Medicaid spending, millions of people with disabilities would be cut off from critical health care services.

"Deny, deny, deny. That's how you hit your numbers." Read @propublica's seminal series on how insurance giants like United and Cigna systematically, cruelly—and very, very profitably—deny health coverage every day, at the expense of patients' lives. https://t.co/mqHzhm995E

Health insurers reject millions of claims for treatment every year in America. Corporate insiders, recordings and internal emails expose the system and its harm.
