After a 3 week long SciFM Summer School, we wrap up with hackathon teams presenting progress they made on four thrusts: (i) Materials, (ii) Biology, (iii) Computational Science Agents, (iv) PDEs! Incredible summer school with 30 enlightening talks and 25 hackathon participants.

In 2020, @AlecBills1 analyzed battery requirements needed for commercial aircraft and identified the goalpost of Bat1k (1000 Wh/kg) as "Bannister moment" for electric aviation. Subsequently, I led a @Nature perspective with Alan, @YetMingChiang & others.

Following year, @leif_fredericks led a beautiful work with Geoff Bower (then at @AirbusSV) on battery requirements for electric VTOL. We first pointed out the possibility of power fade limiting cycle life rather than capacity fade typical in EVs.

In 2017, with @ssripad1, we assessed performance requirements needed of batteries for electric semi-truck and showed feasible range limits for all-electric class-8 semi-trucks. This work got featured in @BillGates book, How to Avoid a Climate Disaster.
