Wow. Trump's DOJ just openly admitted that its interpretation of IEEPA could be used by a future president to declare a "climate change" emergency and impose 50% tariffs on energy.

Sauer insists that the government doesn't assert the power to raise revenue under IEEPA, only to levy tariffs. Kind of weird to raise over $150 billion in revenue, and gloat about it, without ever asserting the power to raise revenue. (And tariffs are taxes.)

Texas voters approved three constitutional amendments last night to prohibit taxes on capital gains, estates, and security transactions in Texas. But these taxes don’t exist now so don’t have an economic effect other than increased tax certainty. More 👇

Texas voters approved several amendments that exempted people from paying certain local school district property taxes. These may be good politically, but are bad economically and fiscally as they just shift the burden of government spending to renters, employers, and others

Texan voters approved this constitutional amendment that confirms the obvious, however, this should mean that lawmakers finally pass triple universal school choice and stop SB2420 and other measures that replace parenting with bureaucrats.

In 1796 SCOTUS decided its first major case, Hylton v. United States. It was a tax case involving economic questions. Justice Paterson accordingly consulted an economist for guidance. Let us hope that tomorrow's court does the same & rejects Trump's economically unsound tariffs
