The whole point of technology is to make labor more productive by liberating labor to do other things. New York had a bill that would tax that and explicitly included AI.

AI is a true general purpose, interstate technology. "Regulating AI" is license to regulate almost the entire future economy. The level of chaos Congress is creating by essentially encouraging states to develop a patchwork of laws is unimaginable.
This isn't even the half of it. There are hundreds of badly written AI state proposals out there.
