it's been 24 years since 9/11, and islamists seem to have close to near impunity to say whatever they want in the anglosphere nations that don't have free speech and routinely cite and prosecute ppl on hate speech... clear it's fear. but cowardice is no solution...
They can deport a cosplay neo-Nazi in record time, but couldn’t stop an ISIS supporter known to ASIO from getting a gun licence. Great work.

I know I'm not that WEIRD because whenever this stuff comes up I start to think the Chinese had a point with the nine familial exterminations
Today marks 10yrs since the Bataclan massacre. Muslims slaughtered 130 and maimed 683. Victims were castrated, raped, disembowelled and tortured before execution. French authorities suppressed this fact for 'social cohesion'. This image was taken moments before the attack.🇫🇷

Yet another way in which inclusive zoning generates dead weight loss
In France, high income households are willing to pay >€500/month not to live near low income ones. https://t.co/SKgoWVsFoC

@GrattanInst I’ve said 4-5-storey. Why lock ourselves into a density that will be insufficient in a few more decades?
This is applicable to Australia. Building high rise towers cannot be the sole solution. Medium density should be the default. All areas within metro boundaries should have 4-5 storey planning limits - no lower.

3-storey townhouses and apartments should be permitted on all residential land in all capital cities to help fix Australia’s housing crisis. Building more homes will create cheaper housing and more productive cities. Our new report shows how. https://t.co/KMX1aFfh8c

There's a very good reason so little attention is paid to cyclists - very few people cycle, and to the >60% of commuters who use cars they're a nuisance

Shows how little I use AI, just had my first moment where 2.5 pro was able to get something right that standard chatgpt muddled. Saved me relearning some annoying trig

Reminder that our planning systems were invented in the 70s because they built ‘too many’ of these.

✅ Expand complying development from 45% of DAs to 75%: more projects will be checked by certifiers against objective criteria instead of councils against dumb ‘vibes’ based ones.

That’s right, people should only be jailed for expressing their political beliefs, killing them is going too far.
My thoughts this evening are with the loved ones of Charlie Kirk. It is heartbreaking that a young family has been robbed of a father and a husband. We must all be free to debate openly and freely without fear - there can be no justification for political violence.

Which, assuming you take 3 million programmers (all of us), 10k/yr take doesn't get you there. So they probably need 2-4 other markets with similar value add. Outside of coding, what professional service can you hit next?

Interesting to think what the future revenues baked into the Anthropic/OpenAI valuations are. E.g. for Anthropic, Assuming future 10x EV/ebitda, 50% margins, that's 30-40 billion a year in revenues. That's a top ~100 company in the US.
