Did you get a robocall today that featured Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis telling you to vote for Mike Lee?
Some Utahns did, and it was missing something required by federal law — a disclosure of who paid for it.
👀 Jean Bingham — the former relief society general president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (i.e. the highest ranking woman in the institution) — donated just over $1k to Becky Edwards today.
Jill Pohlman was just unanimously confirmed as the third woman — fifth woman ever — justice on the Utah Supreme Court. This is the first time in history the court has had a female majority.

My first CP for

Nearly a thousand fewer doctors applied to residency programs in Utah this year.
Researchers noticed a pattern among the states experiencing the most severe losses in applicants: They had adopted restrictive abortion policies.
Most of the reporters who have covered this are women of color. Not cool to tell them they should be “ashamed” of amplifying marginalized communities’ perspective that their culture is always the first sacrifice municipalities make when they look to increase development.
A few weeks ago I asked Speaker Mike Schultz a question about whether one of the members of his caucus broke a law she proposed in a previous session.
He didn't answer — instead he gave a two-minute speech hurling false accusations at me, my colleagues and my employer. 🧵

Nearly 40% of Utah lawmakers profit in some way from real estate and development, according to info they’ve voluntarily disclosed. Top leaders each own more than a dozen companies involved in those industries.

The feud between the Utah auditor and Utah Legislature over a trans bathroom ban continues.

BREAKING: A new bill from GOP lawmakers would ban all abortion clinics in Utah starting in 2024.
It would also limit when victims of rape or incest can get an abortion, among other things.
As the story about Maria Montessori Academy continues to get national attention, I want to point out one major error I’ve seen in a lot other outlet’s reports: The school is not in Ogden. It is in North Ogden — a different municipality with pretty different demographics.
Schultz said, "I saw an email that went out by The Salt Lake Tribune that says, 'Our job is to hold elected officials accountable.' No. Your job is to report the news accurately and let the people hold elected officials accountable."
In a statement earlier today, Utah Auditor John Dougall blasted the “invasive and overly aggressive Legislature” for making him “bathroom monitor” in mandate to field trans bathroom ban complaints.
His office has received thousands of “bogus” reports.
