Making public transport and active travel more affordable, accessible, and sustainable is an anti-poverty measure. @scotgov can help by supporting public control over buses and extending free bus travel to more people on low incomes.

We asked public who gets a good/bad deal from current transport system🚗🚃🚌 They told us it's stacked against ppl who: 🔸Live in rural areas 🔸Are on a low income 🔸Are disabled 🔸Don't own a car People with the best deal? 🔹On high income Report here https://t.co/waQ37LJsTZ

...these are ideas to be taken apart, disagreed with and rebuilt, but it's a start. If we really want a 'Just' transition, if we really want to 'leave nobody behind', we have to invite people on board and offer them a seat.

Reading reports asking how big plans and strategies will be implemented and hearing talks calling for systems change, leaving nobody behind etc. But time is short, so I ran a workshop to put some ideas out there for more inclusive decarbonisation plans...

Biodiversity loss and climate change are not information deficit problems, and will not be solved by ever more precise data about where and how fast they are happening

"We need to show that what surrounds us, shapes us. We need to explain the challenges we face in that context..." This is so important. Inequalities have been normalised. Constant, siloed attempts to 'fix' barriers when we should be crafting new systems that don't create them...

‘You reap what you sow.’ Phrases like this embody a particularly dominant mindset in the UK: individualism. Whilst individualism has its place, too much focus on individual choices distracts us from inequitable systems. How can we redress this balance? https://t.co/ttBSsLOphI

Love this from @mobilitystories - kindness isn’t a KPI or an evaluation metric. It doesn’t have a ‘route to market’ either. But we know it when we experience it. What would it look like if we created the conditions for people to be kind?

POV: you’re a wheelchair user and the staff haven’t turned up with a ramp, so you’re trapped on an empty train. The emergency alarm is out of my reach so I have to rely on my shouting skills. How would you feel if there was a risk of this happening every time you use the train?

Building inclusion into transport decarbonisation design is an opportunity, not a complication. It's a time-limited design gift but we need a new approach. I'll be sharing some ideas to start conversations off on Thursday... https://t.co/SJbm4KjHSB @KevinClimate @GeorgeMonbiot

Is travel becoming more equitable? If not, what will ensure fair transport decarbonisation? We need a radical rethink and action. I'll share some ideas on 29 Feb with @TransportHealth https://t.co/SJbm4KjHSB… @KatiePennick @flickhwilliams @thredcic @LordOrk @InclusionLondon

Transport is key but next week we'll be widening the focus and asking how #journeys can be more inclusive, safe and meet climate goals. We'll share a tool that could immediately align and combine inclusion and climate efforts. Free online workshop 29 Feb:

We already use GHG protocols to plan for emissions - how about identifying Scope 1, 2 and 3 Exclusions? Find them, name them, alert exclusion owners, and then align mitigation plans and timelines with scope 1,2 and 3 emission reduction plans. Or retrofit.
