Lo! I’m alive!. I’ve just turned 33 and am therefore celebrating my hobbit coming of age by eating every hobbit meal in hobbit style with my queer hobbit wife all day long. That seemed like an update this account would appreciate.

4/ this has been a post. I am rambling. (And I am slowly reintegrating myself back into Tolkien land. It’s been an interesting year.).

3/ it’s already being wildly reblogged. And then I also remember I don’t want to be an asshole or a gatekeeper and maybe people want to discover all these nuggets and Easter eggs on their own time, as part of their own journey??. But honestly, mostly —. I’m just lazy lmao.

2/ JRRT’s process. And it this mildly irks me. Because I like correct-ish information. Even when I know the person is just genuinely ignorant. (And I mean that in the least judgemental way.) But these days I’m too tired to pull out sources & quotes to add to the conversation when.

1/ Sometimes I see someone who casually enjoys Silm (which is such a hilarious thing to say — 6 years ago I’d be like ‘there is nothing casual abt Silm’ lmao) say something on tumblr that’s just technically incorrect if you’ve read the drafts & academic attempts at reconstructing.

The last handwriting I have from my dad. I asked him to copy a sentence from my favorite #Tolkien excerpt into my notebook, so I could keep it forever. He introduced me to LotR when I was 8, & we shared that our whole life together. I will put it in a frame for my office.
