@educatedandfree @feelsdesperate People don’t like it when you say this but… free childcare. If your child is too young to stay by themselves and parents work outside the home, school can serve as free childcare and you can supplement or “homeschool” evenings/weekends

We live at the mercy of the bottom quintile, but the top decile can wreck plenty. Every QT is some elite proudly defecting from the social norm, forgetting what happens when the median copies. This principal is 100% correct at the system level.
It’s 2025 and I actually have parents trying to defend pulling their child out of school for a vacation. I get a death. I get granny is turning 100 and lives out of state. But to get a cheaper vacation- nope. Can’t ever support that.

i cant believe i used to be an urbancel who walked places in the rain and snow
having a car in a walkable city actually rocks because instead of having to walk 10 min in the wind and rain to the cute neighborhood cafe, i can drive there in 4 min without exposing myself to the elements
