Barcelona seem to be on the lookout for a new keeper. So are many across Europe. But who actually fits the bill? I filtered through Europe’s top leagues to build a shortlist of potential fits. Here's my latest: 👇 https://t.co/UPmIo9S8hF

Barcelona’s goalkeeper situation remains a dubious one, even after several years of discussion. While the club seems to be calm on making…

I honestly feel that the move to play domestic league fixtures in other countries should be blocked at every turn. The response of “revenue generation” will always be made but once you start playing home fixtures in other places, the game’s well and truly gone. I hate it.

🏟️ In addition to playing the WC qualifying tournament at home, 🇶🇦 Qatar and 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia were given another advantage. They are the only ones to have a 6-day gap in between their two matches. All other teams 🇴🇲🇮🇶🇮🇩🇦🇪 will need to play their matches in the space of 3 days.

We were lucky with injuries for most of last season, until the end, and that’s when it fell apart. This season is already much worse, and our lack of depth is getting majorly exposed. This side can probably function without one of Lamine or Raphinha, but DEFINITELY not both.

Barca are running dry on squad resources. Flick-ball doesn’t provide rest with the ball or rest without the ball & I think that impacts the ability to keep players fit. That’s the edge Alonso has on them to keep guys fit despite Barca having a higher ceiling when everyone is fit.

This is why I think football has always been such a huge part of my life. For 9 months of the year, you have something to give your weekends structure, something to care about that’s both bigger than you and detached from the everyday shite you’re forced to contend with.

🚨🎙️| Hansi Flick: “Our idea is to press our opponents, it’s crucial and part of the Barça mentality. We can do it better in certain situations. When it’s structured, we do it well, but if there’s no pressing, the line is too high. We have to improve and train for this every day,

Yes, Barça are very vulnerable when opponents can stretch the backline on the counter, a few runners and a good cross is often enough. I think compared to PSG, the issue is the lack of quality fullbacks and recovery pace in defense. Flick at Bayern had Alaba and Davies.

@Der_Augustus There’s definitely a pattern here. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, but we do need to improve defensively. My question is: why are PSG able to suffocate teams without using such a suicidal line? Do we lack the players to press the way they do?

More touches for Lamine equals more football for FCB, issue is especially in europe (BVB away, PSG 2nd half last night) more and more teams are blocking passing lanes via M2M press and forcing Lamine to scraps

No Barcelona player had more touches (47), won more duels (7), completed more take-ons (4), created more chances (2) or won more fouls (2) than Lamine Yamal in the first half vs. PSG. 👏

Por cierto, el Bayern sometió al FCB hace un año durante 20 minutos de forma más bestia que la del PSG ayer. La diferencia fue que Raphinha marcó 3 goles en 45 minutos.

Also it’s possible for both competitors to have a good game in the same match. Ie one player dominate one passage of the game before the other takes control. Saw the same thing with Pedri v Vitinha. For me a proper pocket job is 90 minutes of total domination. #barcapsg

Measuring whether someone has pocketed someone just by virtue of their 1 v 1 dribbling duels is such a limited way of analysing football. Did Mendes subdue Yamal 2nd half? Yes but in the first half he was mostly getting cooked (before the late fight back that half) - not

Stepped back a bit from football the past few years, and seeing the meltdowns after losses like last night’s just reminds me how reactionary football fans are. Crazy thing is, I used to be the same. Flick is still great. We’re still great. Everything will be alright.

Lamine has no longer has no business on the wings and it’s not even because he can’t operate there it’s because it’s very easy to close the passing angles to him, a good m2m high press automatically means he is receiving 80% of passes in his own half (psg today, bayern last year)

As I said before the game, pressing was always going to be the key to deciding the winner. PSG pressed better and dealt with our press better, so they deserved the win. Flick’s idea of having the wingers press centrally was too risky against their fullbacks both of PSG’s goals
