First of the season!.. cow calved last night and was flying it all day until Sensehub alerted me to a drop in intake and activity.. she was only starting to wobble a small bit when I came on her so with two bottles of calcium and a mag she should be fine. Over-conditioned id say.

Great dry morning for doing an opening farm cover with @tommurphy12345 today. The farm opened with ➡️AFC 1335kgs DM/ha ➡️last measure was 26th Nov ➡️winter growth rate 10kgs DM/ha ➡️todays soil temp was 6.1 °C ➡️cows out to grass🐄 ➡️Spring grass budget done & SRP ✅

In 2020 the Irish wildlife trust sold agricultural land for the sum of€580000. I would like to know why they did not rewild this? Also it's believed it was sold to a dairy farmer! This is an unbelievable show of hypocrisy. Any comment @IrishRainforest @whittledaway

Teagasc economic outlook published yesterday, key finding "In 2022, total milk production costs are expected to increase by 15 percent per hectare and by 13 percent per litre." Though milk price is predicted to remain strong for 2022 dairy farm incomes are predicted to fall.

Irish climate policy is not, and never has been, about doing anything to change the climate. Because that is not possible. Irish climate policy is about a national donning of sackcloth and ashes to do penance for the climate, without making any impact on it at all.

Brazil already plans to add the equivalent of four Irish national herds to its own present number of cattle by 2030. Reducing the number of Irish cattle will make absolutely no difference, none whatever, to the climate.
If we reduce the size of our cattle herd as is being suggested on @RTENewsAtOne countries like Brazil will step in at higher environmental cost.
