Earth Day turns 50 this week, with its first event held on April 22, 1970. A UToledo student organization, F.A.T.E., formed around this time and hosted several teach-ins and Earth Day activities to raise awareness of environmental deterioration. #earthday #planet #environment

On May 4, 1970, the Ohio National Guard opened fire on Kent State students during an anti-war protest, killing 4 students and injuring 9. Like at many other college campuses across the nation, students at UToledo showed their outrage with protests and class strikes.
