One of the dumbest ideas the boomers ever propagated was that a home is an investment asset, not a good. We should be mass-manufacturing homes and driving costs down. If we have done so 45 years ago, homes might cost $250k instead of $450k.
Average cost for a 2,000 sq. ft. home in America: 45 years ago: $97,000 40 years ago: $124,000 35 years ago: $144,000 30 years ago: $159,000 25 years ago: $187,000 20 years ago: $249,000 15 years ago: $215,000 10 years ago: $272,000 5 years ago: $368,000

We have the highest gas tax yet drive over the deepest potholes. We spend the most on homelessness yet have the most homeless. We spend the most on social services yet have the worst poverty. We're 1st in education spending growth yet 1st in illiteracy. Our government is broken.
“Over the last decade, California’s spending overall has doubled, while its population has stayed FLAT. The state’s education budget has doubled, while the number of students has DECLINED.”

Larry and Sergey can’t stay in California since the wealth tax as written would confiscate 50% of their Alphabet shares. Each own ~3% of Alphabet's stock, worth about $120 billion each at today's ~$4 trillion market cap. But because their shares have 10x voting power, the

This isn’t understood by enough people Try to be useful to your fellow man, by creating some product or service, and we all win.
"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost. The biggest mistake people make, intellectuals in particular, they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because

You see that phone in your hand that can do all kinds of things, those packages on your doorstep that you ordered 2 days ago, all the income taxes from all the jobs they created? We already have a contribution loop from the wealthy to helping the rest of the people in the state /
Rep. Khanna reached out to me to discuss the proposed California wealth tax; and while I am against the proposed tax, I'm always open to dialogue with our elected leaders. The proposed CA wealth tax is badly designed in so many ways that a simple social post cannot cover all of

Public schools hold students back to the lowest common denominators. AI tutors like @synthesischool will let each student move at their own pace and tailor the teaching to how that student learns best. Without that I don't think we turn the decline in public education around
I had a new student in my Algebra II class. She was homeschooled previously, and this was her first experience in public school. Two days in, she’s already unerolling. I’m not surprised, given our last conversation. Her words when I asked her what she thought: “I wanted to see

Jeff Bezos is worth $238 billion, even though Amazon has a $2.6 trillion market cap. In other words, he’s created $2.4 trillion of value for other shareholders—plus trillions more for employees, customers, suppliers, governments, and other stakeholders. Jensen Huang is worth

Good advice in this thread. Most applicants do the bare minimum. Show you care and can do the work and it's an easy yes
never compete when applying for jobs, there are hundreds of applicants with better grades and universities than you. but none of them will be making a personalized demo i used this demo to get all my interviews like openai over two years ago before moving to sf
