OK, dear friends. I have some exciting news. I've been awarded a Churchill Fellowship to look at providing general practice/primary care to communities that can't afford to pay. https://t.co/IOZKWlEcNJ

I wrote about not being paternalistic as a doctor, for the @BJGPjournal , and wondered if we might be maternalistic instead. https://t.co/jxNVOQuqZ0

I've worked in the same clinic for 20 years now. I never thought I'd be in one place for so long. I had a few thoughts on being a GP for a long time in the @BJGPjournal

I'm sure I'm not the only person to post this, but it does seem relevant *right now*.

Today is National Viola Day (I don't know which country - it should be wherever you are right now!) This gives me a great excuse to remember the beautiful piece I commissioned during the COVID lockdowns, played amazingly by Katie Yap. https://t.co/3yzaClr1hq

Please feel free to share all the #ChurchillDeepEnd articles and my final report ( https://t.co/IOZKWlEcNJ) very widely. The more people know about it, the better our health system could be. Especially with an election coming...

@timsenior @ChurchillTrust Dear Dr Tim, do you think the Deep End model shares several elements with Aboriginal health (esp. ACCHO) approach?

You'll notice that what I'm arguing for - because *all* evidence points this way - is properly funded primary health care - relationship-based, continuity over time, comprehensive. ACCHOs do this well, though all of primary care could do so much more with proper funding.

Recommendation 5 Develop health policy and funding that promotes health equity Apply a socioeconomic lens to all health policy (as well as rural/remote and First Nations lenses). You'd be surprised how rarely this is done currently in Australia.
