This is a thread on major parts of the Godzilla x Kong Novelization that I needed to share. As of writing this I have not finished it yet, and so will be adding things as I go.
The fact that people watched this and still came to the conclusion that Skar King is weak fodder. He is visibly having fun and dominating the entire fight.
People really don't appreciate the fact that we're about to get a Godzilla x Kong trilogy, which was something that never would have even been conceived just a few years ago. We're gonna be looking back on this decades from now.
I'm pretty confident that even most Godzilla fans will agree that the scene where Kong lost his shit and went Omni Man on Godzilla was very deserved. Bro needed to chill, and Kong went through so much prior. But, you also get why Goji's so angry with Kong after seeing Skar King.
The MonsterVerse does not get enough credit for perhaps being the single greatest thing to have ever happened to King Kong. What it has done for his character, mythos, and franchise cannot be understated. Especially when it comes to his new impressive rogues gallery lineup.
For the record, Adam Wingard has stated that Skar King is able to go toe-to-toe with BOTH Godzilla and Kong in a past interview. And in the movie it stated that Skar King nearly killed Godzilla, with Godzilla only trapping him underground. So y'all gotta stop sleeping on Skar.
Skar King is King Kong's Ghidorah. He takes Kong's attributes that make him unique and up them to 11. Intelligence, Skill, and Agility. Suddenly in the hands of someone as brutal and cruel as Skar, those attributes become terrifying. You can see why Godzilla hated Kong in GvK.
I think after GxK all of us Kong fans owe Adam Wingard a massive apology. Bro gave Kong more respect in GxK than I have ever seen. The only things that come close are 2005, KSI, and the Skull Island Anime. MV Kong got redeemed from GvK and I can't see him getting downplayed now.
Btw, we've now gotten three underwater fights with Kong to showcase that he really can fight aquatic monsters on their own turf pretty well.
Godzilla vs Kong
Kong vs Kraken
Kong vs Gator Snake
When I tell y'all my money is on Suko if he fought Minus One Goji, I ain't joking. Bro is a straight menace in this movie. Takes after both Skar and Kong. Plus, 149 feet tall.
Adam Wingard has said he intentionally took a different POV with the scale in this movie. We are seeing the monsters as characters from their POV a lot, where they would be moving normal. You're comparing two different styles and approaches as if they're going for the same thing.
Not to get all virgin vs chad on yall, but yeah, virgin vs chad.
(The former still looks like some good old-fashioned dumb fun though, gonna give it a watch)

"Godzilla won."
Kong knocked him out when he actually tried.
"Kong would've died without Mothra."
Godzilla only got up because Kong stopped; he would've blocked.
"Kong had the Beast Glove."
Godzilla Evolved; Kong didn't even have his axe.
"Godzilla held back."
Kong did.
This. This is like the scene of Kong scratching his ass in GvK. It's straight up telling you what kind of movie it is trying to be. How people can hate this I have no idea.
Okay, theory time (based on the trailers, not leaks). Do you guys think this moment is after Skar disarms Kong and so Kong tries to rally the other Apes? Maybe it starts to work, which leads to Skar releasing Shimo to regain control of the situation, as he seems perfectly fine.
Man, the total 180 the MonsterVerse did with Kong from Phase 1 (KSI, BoK, Kingdom Kong, and GvK) into Phase 2 (SI, JLvGvK, The Hunted, and GxK). We went from Kong killing fodder, getting saved by humans, and losing, to beating impressive opponents on his own. No more downplay.
I feel like people really underrate Skar King. He clowned on Kong in their first fight. Who did some insane stuff in this movie and the series. He then fought evenly with Beast Glove Kong, which is insane due to Egypt fight. Adam said he can go toe-to-toe with Godzilla and Kong.
How it feels seeing Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and knowing that it not only didn't tarnish the reputation and legacy of the trilogy, but lives up to them and is paving the way for five more movies:
It's the age of Kaiju boys. DCEU is dead, MCU is dying, Star Wars is mulching over the same shit over and over and losing interest, but Godzilla and the MonsterVerse are THRIVING. DC could make a comback though.
So, with Godzilla and Kong getting crazy upgrades, and Shimo being an apocalyptic force, on top of the legacy of King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla, GxK really has their work cut out to make Skar King shoulder to shoulder with these Titans. Show us why he was chosen as the villain.
You know what? Fuck it, I'm gonna say it. I think Skar King could beat Godzilla Evolved. Yeah, Godzilla breaks his whip, but that was when he caught him lacking. Skar then dodged all of the Atomic Breath. Skar was evenly matched with Beast Glove Kong, who beat Godzilla here.
It's funny how the Scylla scene got more attention than most of the other new ones other than Shimo and Godzilla swimming.
Like, are we not going to talk about this shot of Skar King strangling Kong with the Whipslash?
The way Godzilla Twitter just turned on KDM is still fucking insane to me. You guys were so ready to drop him over nothing without putting any thought or research into it. What? Because he didn't handle the situation like you wanted? OP handled it even worse and she gets support?
Can we just talk about how even more impressive Kong was in GvK in retrospect? He had never faced a Godzilla or used the axe, and had to figure both out on the fly. Meanwhile, not only had Godzilla fought Kongs, he fought one as insane as Skar King. Yet, Kong still surprised him.
George is insanely underrated for a Kaiju. Enhanced regeneration, strength of a Rhinoceros Beetle, speed of a Cheetah, indeterminate growth, growth rate of a Blue Whale, and the build and intelligence of a Gorilla. Honestly even smarter. Dude moved and hurt 200+ foot Lizzie.
Okay, so here's my takeaway. GxK has better action, but GvK has better fights.
GxK has more and higher quality fights, but GvK made all of its fights feel like a major event due to length.
Man, it took one day of Shimo being revealed to be female for everyone to ship her with Godzilla. Y'all are odd. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Shimo is the First Titan, the direct ancestor to Godzilla's species, so that gets into really weird territory with those two.
After seeing Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, I would like to make everyone aware that MonsterVerse Kong was a Falconer first and it's awesome. But nobody talks about it.
Bearded Kong is so raw man, best thing Adam Wingard did. You can see a clear evolution from Skull Island's, to GvK's, and to TNE's too. And KSI having just a little stubble shows how young he was.
Hell, he is stated to be Kong's Ghidorah by Wingard and is the entire reason Kong earns his King status. And we see him beat Kong's ass in their first fight and match him with the Beast Glove, which put Godzilla Evolved down.

of Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong. I was wondering if this thing was made from the remains of the Skull Crawler that Kong killed in Kong: Skull Island 2017?
@curieqri
Tell me you don't actually watch Japanese Godzilla movies without actually telling me. Stop this empty virtue signaling. MonsterVerse Godzilla is just as valid an interpretation.
Is it a hot take to say that I just love the MonsterVerse? Like the whole thing? I love EVERY entry for very different reasons. Every movie, show, and comic. I just love the MV. Is that so hard? To at least just appreciate what they're all going for or that we even have them?
Kong standing alone against Shimo while all others cower in fear is insane. Despite the fact that he is clearly afraid and shocked. This is why he's my goat bro.
Furthering my Skar King glazer arc, a 50% Kong did much better against Mechagodzilla than a stronger and more experienced Kong did against Skar King in their first fight.
Godzilla fans when their movies aren't completely obscured in darkness or storms with constant cutaways to boring humans, and are actually well lit, with no cutaways, and easily followable action:
Godzilla "fans" rooting for Godzilla to fail is always a sight to see. This won't lead to change, it will just end the MonsterVerse altogether. And if you want that, then you were never a fan and should not have any say on the matter. Just say it's not for you and don't watch it.
And people think he's a coward. I love how he gets in the face of Kong, who is much bigger, and literally laughs at him. Skar King knows he's the shit and is unimpressed. Great intro.
Bro Skar King's introduction went so hard that it caused even his most adamant haters to do a total 180 when they actually saw him. I think it deserves to be used as an example for one of the greatest villain entrances/introductions ever. You get so much from him in just minutes.
GxK's SECOND trailer is already at 7 million views in just 16 hours, and nothing but positivity from fans and casuals.
For reference, A Quiet Place: Day One has 15 million after over a week, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has 10 million after over three days. That's good!
There's a misconception that Kong vs Skar King is like Caesar vs Koba, and so Skar is weak, but really I'd say their dynamic is much closer to Kratos vs Baldur.
This is facts. People gotta understand that none of the other directions want to return even though they're fans. And do we really wanna risk someone new when we have a genuine and excited fan in Wingard who knows what he wants to do and would maintain consistency?
Out of all the Monsterverse directors he seems like the one who enjoys making these movies the most. He's the only one who actively wants to come back and do more. No other director nominated themselves for to make the next movie. What a chad move
Since the movie will be releasing, let me make something clear, as I know I'll see a lot of it on here. Skar King losing to Kong does not make him weak. He still goes toe-to-toe with him three times. Anyone that says that is only saying it because they think that KONG is weak.
For the record guys. Kong's beard doesn't clip into his torso here. People thought the same thing with GvK, it just presses against his chest. It's not as clear because the footage is very compressed. It will look fine in 4K.
@circuscryptid
Reminder: they don't. Kong literally just grew from a baby to an adult. His fur is gray due to stress, but he's only a few hundred years old. His parents and Skar King are millions. We have literally never seen or heard of Titans dying from old age. Bro is lying.
JFC, Hollow Earth SHOULD have Kaiju sized trees. Also, again, we are following them as characters. Not possible to do with "scale," which Adam talked about.
Lokey, this is how some shots in Minus One looked and felt that you all gassed up. I still love that movie a LOT and think its CGI deserves the Oscar, but I'm just saying if that movie came from Legendary with its budgets, y'all would rip some of those Godzilla animations apart.
Everyone saying that we can't have Primal style Kaiju content needs to watch Skull Island Episode 7. There's a reason it's the best one. So much storytelling potential with Kong in particular as a protagonist.
Godzilla didn't want to kill Scylla. He recognized her importance in nature, and hoped she was just moving to find a better resting place. Until it became clear she didn't learn, and would never learn.
@RussellMaddie20
That was a consolation prize for losing the fight. This is mostly Kong's film and it has way more emotional weight if Kong kills Sker King. This is a NEW villain for Kong. We've seen Godzilla kill Mechagodzilla many times.
@RickDaSquirrel
Nah, I love this shit, and it seems many others agree. This movie clearly isn't for everyone, but it feels like it was made specifically for me.
Godzilla is stated at least twice to have fought Skar King and the other Kongs with his own army of Titans. So no, he never solo'd Skar King and the entire Kong race.
Godzilla fans could dish it out for three years but can't take it. I'm not gonna play nice after how they treated Kong and Kong fans for the record, and especially with this level of copium. It's so bad in TikTok and YouTube btw.
