Woke up to my Revolut account being closed at 3:53 am in the morning after receiving email to update my residence permit info at 3:53 am. And now I can’t update my KYC info, because my account is in the process of closure. And our course my “premium support” is silent

The hidden risk of @ethereum infra 🧵 On Sept 2nd, Ethereum mainnet faced a hiccup when one of the execution clients(reth), hit a bug in state root computation 🐞 The result? Multiple Reth-powered nodes stalled at block 23272426. 👇
We had a bug in Reth's state root computation today in Ethereum mainnet, which caused multiple nodes to stall. Recover by running the following: ``` 1. reth stage drop --datadir DATADIR merkle 2. reth stage unwind --datadir DATADIR to-block 23272426 3. reth node --datadir

For me personally, the main takeaway is this: in rare cases, when you clearly understand what you're missing (a simple database that can do cross-regional replication) and what benefit you'll get (cutting costs and latency), it's actually possible to build your own DB — even

chotki is obviously super raw, missing a lot of stuff to be a real "open-source" project. Some essential parts are actually part of our closed-source codebase. It’s not meant to be used in production unless you built it yourselves, nor am I sure it ever will be. But it solved

Long story short, we now run on our own Chotki cluster (9 regions, 27 replicas). Pros: - it's pretty much hassle-free; it's embedded into one of our services - 99% of all requests to it are under 1 ms, which is important when the average response time for a request is ~40 ms -

When we started, we used ScyllaDB, but as we expanded across the globe, it became more and more expensive to add new clusters. Also, we host on cheap hardware and managed ScyllaDB is hosted in the cloud. We never really considered hosting ScyllaDB ourselves because our

Today we @dRPCorg finally finished our "fun" project that took almost a year. We wrote our own database: https://t.co/djEZhpGVaY Its main goal is to handle counters across multiple datacenters across the globe so we could track our users' balances. But other things we wanted
