Who says good food in schools isn’t possible @RishiSunak @educationgovuk - you just need to try harder….

Great piece in @FT by @CamCavendish outlining the cost to societies, govts and people when countries turn blind eyes to our increasingly appalling diets. Well worth a read.

3. The inhumanity of it appalls & shames me. @ukhomeoffice said they can’t process her papers for her to stay just 2 more weeks because they are short-staffed. This is just 1 story. So many lives being ruined because of incompetence. Staff up and show some decency @RishiSunak.

2. Sadly the fact that we want to bring our children up speaking Spanish and learning about different cultures is not relevant. Nor that this very cultured, educated girl suddenly has to pay for somewhere to live in Europe for 2 weeks before her flight leaves.

1. Thanks to politicians like @SuellaBraverman and @ukhomeoffice my nanny is being deported tomorrow. She has the right papers, she is registered and paying tax PLUS she has a ticket home to Columbia on 20th Dec for Christmas (and not coming back for 4 months…)….

The @AlexRoseCharity gives people on low incomes vouchers to spend on fresh fruit and veg in farmers markets giving them access to better food and whole ingredients, benefiting them, the farmers and the natural world the farmers on these smaller farms are protecting ✨✨✨.
The winner of the Food Innovation Award at tonight’s #bbcfoodawards is the incredible @AlexRoseCharity helping to provide fruits and vegs to families. Many congratulations

The food these women make looked mouth-watering but it was their mission to give women in their community a voice and change lives that really inspired me. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻.
It's time for the Best Streetfood, Takeaway and Small Eatery Award and the winner is @MaasisCardiff!

I was not allowed to vote in this category but obviously completely delighted that such a brilliant charity was recognised for the work they are doing in making it totally possible, and affordable, to feed children proper, delicious, real food at school 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.
And the final award at this year’s #BBCFoodAwards is the Derek Cooper Outstanding Achievement Award which goes to @ChefsinSchools!

Politicians are getting us all wrong - Food, Farming and Countryside Commission - a most excellent piece on why politicians are missing a trick when it comes to food policy - and how most of us all want the same things from it…

What is fascinating is that when people know the facts they are almost unanimous in calling for action from the government. So why does the government refuse to act? @campbellclaret @RoryStewartUK.
🍔 How worried are people about junk food?. 📺 Government proposed a 9pm advertising ban last year, then delayed. 💪 Citizens across political parties tell us: they want government to take action. More #TheFoodConversation. @DoctorChrisVT @CernyCaroline

Nicola came round late @AvantiWestCoast so I was unable to get off the train to board the correct one, even with a correct ticket. It leaves an unpleasant taste in the mouth that as a company you have profited from a genuine mistake and taken a double payment for one trip.

I was not aware I was in the wrong train; the ticket man in Manchester did not tell me. Despite this Nicola informed me I was travelling illegally and that I would have to pay for a second ticket! So now the ticket below has been paid for plus a second, extremely expensive one.

Dear @AvantiWestCoast I have just travelled on the 12.55 back from working in Manchester. Your man at the gate let me on the train but it was not until just before Euston that Nicola, your train manager, told me that I was on the wrong train, in fact I had a 13.55 ticket….

Fascinating to see how strong public sentiment is, across race, gender, pay & political creed, for govt action to improve our food system and provide better, greener food for everyone AND make the polluter pay….
📽️ We’re so excited to share a brand new film from #TheFoodConversation 🥕. Citizens tell us what they really think about food 🍎. More 👇.

The price others pay for our next-day deliveries via @spectator. Loved this piece. Like with our food systems, big business would prefer us not to look at the externalities…but it’s time we started to demand that we must, even at the cost of convenience.
