🗣️🛜🟰🧠: Language regions are hubs that aren't fixed. They are spatiotemporally dynamic, connecting w/ 44% of peripheral brain regions at any moment. These are averaged and thresholded away, leaving 'the language network' ONLY in the aggregate over time: https://t.co/dRiLAinZGS

First mobile phone based study tracking longitudinal changes in language & voice around #psychedelics 📱🗣️⏲️👽🍄. We show a shift from external focus to introspection, predicting psychological transformations, e.g., in #wellbeing ❤️‍🩹. Beautiful work @joanna_kuc & company 👏🎉.

We think of language as a transparent tool for expressing thoughts & describing reality. Philosophers agree that “the map is not the territory”. Recent thinkers argue that language plays a fundamental role in shaping our perception of the world & of self.
