Because messaging is now coming out officially, I am posting to confirm that our close friend and colleague @drdagly, Darren Markland, died yesterday. As a close colleague and friend, I know that he would only want communities to come together around something like this.

A procedure called EVT is creating radically better outcomes for patients, but only when it’s performed quickly enough — and that requires the transformation of an entire system of care.

6. Implement true team based care to include (and fund) nurses, PAs, NPs, social workers, dietitcians, PTs, OTs, pharmacists, etc. 7. Stop focusing on “quick fixes” that the evidence shows aren’t fixes and cost more in the long run (i.e. private clinics, two tiers). /12

This is a fantastic read. Describing lossy compression and ChatGPT gives a lot of pause for thought about the meaning of expertise, understanding and how we assess learners.Reminds me of insights I’ve learned from @WalterTava

I also had to stop by Ch. Cafetería. This time, I went for the cookie and a few salted caramel chocolate truffles which I ate without taking a picture of but you should know they were outstanding. Even if you don’t like chocolate, you need must visit them on @stonyplainroad.

For good reading about making deciding what success actually means for you and then figuring out your odds based on where you’re at right now… @markmanson - The subtle art of not giving a fuck @AnnieDuke - Thinking in bets

Defining what “success” means and determining the likelihood of achieving it given your current status, NOT what you did before is critical before you become overly invested and stuck in a role/position etc… If you talk about balance and wellness, you should applaud this

This is awesome! There is nothing “sad” or “disappointing” about recognizing where you’re at in terms of energy, focus, interest and suitability, then making a change. JA did a phenomenal job and that doesn’t mean continuing is right #hero

‘Hiya is this gastro on-call? I’m Rob from Prestwich, 54, bit of a boozer. CGV last 24 hrs, melaena 2 days. Glasgow-Blatchford 8, but that’s without an Hb cause I’m calling from home to self-refer. Am I alright to pop in for a quick OGD +/- transfusion later today? Ta.’
"One of things we've put forward.. self referrals so individuals dont have to go to a dr in order to get referred to specialist help.. if youve got internal bleeding & you just need a test there ought to be a way that doesn't involve going to see a GP" Keir Starmer on #BBCLauraK

The findings of this excellent study highlight how incomplete or misinterpreted data can be worse than no data. Early in COVID, rumors and assumptions were flying. THREAD 🧵

Very clearly laid out summary of immunity, vaccines and COVID. For HCWs a great example of language that can help you explain these concepts.
COVID-19: Things everyone should know (Part 1: Immune System) With poor public health messaging, the general public doesn't seem to know some important things about how COVID-19 and the immune system actually works. 🧵1/
